The Diaz bros wasted their primes

Nick had a good run outside of the UFC against a few slightly above average guys, but he was also in the UFC before the streak and didn't do well, then came back to the UFC and didn't do well. Nate although didn't stray from the UFC was somewhat in the same boat. He beat some slightly above average guys, but when it came time to step up I can't think of a time he won when the spot light was on him outside of the Conor fight.

Literally no difference than any other hyped guy coming into the UFC like Askren, Lombard, or Will Brooks. Other than Nick has more fan hype.

Damn, your thread got merged into mine. Never seen that before. Cancel culture at work.

Maybe your idea of "wasted" is different than their idea of it? In your mind you should try to get every single dollar out of your athletic prime while you can. Maybe in Nick's mind he wanted to spend his prime doing something else. I can't say it was wasted.

For example....in the NFL Andrew Luck could still be playing and making millions and would be in his prime. But he quit b/c he was sick of getting beat up, didn't want CTE, and wanted time with his family. Did he "waste" his prime or did he enjoy it doing what he wanted to do with his family?

Andrew Luck doesn't spend his retired life talking about how great of a QB he is. He officially quit the sport and moved on with his life.

Nick did for sure and it sucks, but it is what it is. Lets fight on now.

Depends what you consider more important.

They wasted their prime fighting years living life.

They lived their prime living years to their fullest.

Nick couldn’t put the weed down. Kept getting suspended and had to fight with athletic commissions. He couldnt seem to get out of his own way. Found alcohol through Rhonda Rousey. Decided to party instead of fight.

Their scarcity became part of their appeal.

Nick coming back was only a spectacle because he hadn't fought in so long. There were no money fights for him after the Silva fight.

Nick got sick of the commissions and the wrestle fucking and hated to fight and wanted more money to get hit in the head..... also the ufc seems like they always wanted to embarrass nick and always wanted to throw him in to get wrestle fucked..... nick should have been a huge ppv star but that isn't what the ufc wanted to do with him.

THIS.

Also Nate had the same issues but he was smart in calling Mcg.

I don't think that's fair to say about Nate necessarily. Nick absolutely did.

Nick got that weed suspension, fought it all the way and then fights Anderson
Then it was like he actually served that suspension plus two extra years.

There should be a children's story written about the tale of Robbie Lawler an the Diaz boys, much like the turtle vs the hare. The Diaz boys were like the privileged popular jock dudes in high school that got the chicks and everything on a silver platter, where as Robbie was like the ugly manlet dork that had to work had and do things the hard way but became more successful. Rather than complaining about how things were not fair, Robbie kept on chugging, improving his weakness, and eventually became a more successful fighter, human and a real champion.

Robbie was even the most exciting champion UFC ever had, put on absolute wars, but it was the Diaz bros that had fake belts made up for them and were given title fights off of losses.
