Media The coldest KO ever by Beneil Dariush!

It's timestamped.

The way Beneil gets rocked, regains his composure and then, seemingly out of instinct, decides to go for the kill.

In that moment Dariush didn't care what happened to him. He just knew he wanted to end Klose.

I thought this thread was gonna show Beneil getting killed by Barboza. That was a magnificent KO by Barboza, but Beneil is a much better fighter right now and this clip shows the skill and resolve Beneil has. Hespect.

Drakkar Klose was a really underrated fight, I think his career got cut short from injuries or something. Klose was 7-2 in the UFC and this was the only time he was ever finished in his career.

I like when Barboza ktfo him the best

Yeah, tough fight for Benny, he was looking good vs Barboza and then got caught with a nasty tiger knee.

i remember him getting outclassed by david teymur, the “i’m gonna fuck you” guy. speaking of which, where the fuck did he go? he was a super solid kickboxer.

very fun fight but elite fighters don’t go life and death with drakkar klose

They don't get caught by Matt Serra or Adriano Martins either. Kind of a stupid comment, Dariush's UFC career is the epitome of elite, he's had 21 fights in the UFC and he went 16-4-1, among them he has 4 top 10 wins at a minimum but it definitely could be more, currently on a 8 fight win streak. Literally the epitome of an elite fighter.

He went pretty cold here

Both him and Charles are pretty bad defensively on the feet but Charles has way more variety in his offence. He got knocked down by 3 of the most dangerous strikers in LW and Islam who did well striking against Volk while Beneil almost got knocked out by Klose. When Charles versus people outside the top 15 like Gordon or Kevin Lee he out strikes them easily. He looked good against Gamrot but that's because of his great anti grappling and Gamrot being probably the worst top 10 striker in LW.

Charles has variety but throws mostly single shots, one of the biggest advantages to having diverse strike selection is the ability to put strikes together intelligently...Which Charles does not do. Beneil has an advantage of being a southpaw so he gets to strike into Islam's open side and where Islam likes to kicks from range and being inactive playing a counter heavy approach waiting on his opponents, which the short Volkanovski was forced to play into, Beneil won't. Also Volk did well defensively wrestling but he absolutely had to be conscious of that the entire time, two of the rounds he lost were from getting his back taken for an entire round...Beneil is an elite grappler, I seriously doubt Islam takes his back for entire rounds like he did Volk. On the inside if he hits Islam like Volk did, Islam might be getting finished. Benny hits hard.

I agree that Beneil has bad striking defense and Islam is accurate and good at countering but the flip side is also true, Islam doesn't move his head and if you force him to exchange he looks to immediately tie you up because in the pocket is where he got hit and dropped multiple times by Volk, he's not comfortable if you get inside of his range and defense at all. Beneil does if nothing else force exchanges and he has far superior defensive wrestling, takedown defense, scrambling and an anti wrestling guard than Oliveira will ever have. Islam isn't the heaviest hitter but Beneil really cannot afford to get rocked badly, which he might, just as Charles did by islam. Beneil has the height on par and reach on Islam without giving up size and he can kick from the outside viciously, Islam also isn't the best at checking kicks.

Beneil has a lot more than Charles did for Islam, I've always said this. I don't think it'll be enough but if Benny doesn't get chinned early coming forward I think he will give Islam a ton of trouble just as I thought Beneil would Khabib too. Biggest issue is cardio, Islam is a serious workhorse and bred to go the distance, Beneil has gotten tired in intense fights plenty of times.

I agree that he has a better chance then Charles against Islam due to his better anti grappling and that Charles only got taken down while initiating the grappling in round 1 while in round 2 Islam failed to take him down while having him on the fence. I think he'll keep it on the feet against Islam who although was countering Volk he did panic whenever Volk blitzed in as he is not as good defensively in the pocket and yeah if Volk can rock him badly then Beneil can def put him out. Shoulda done that fight instead of the Charles fight its very intriguing but unfortunately I don't think he beats Charles

I agree they should have given it to Dariush rather than had him fight Oliveira, makes me inclined to think they will try to slide Poirier in there in October for the Abu Dhabi card or maybe Conor/Chandler winner but I hope I'm wrong. If Beneil wins in May, October is a perfectly fine turn around time. Could also be that IF Beneil loses, they'll have Poirier, Gaethje or someone else to slot in rather than a stale Oliveira vs Islam rematch. I think Beneil beats Charles but you never know, if Beneils smart he will wrestle...Dude has super good wrestling that doesn't get talked about enough and from top is a better grappler than Oliveira. I favor Beneil but its close.
