Watched the whole thing in 2 days. Fantastic concept and execution. I loved the whole thing.

I binged the series as fast as possible. But I'll watch it again and take my time with it. It's too good to be one and done.

I lol'd every time Homelander gave the, "You guys are the real heroes!" speech. Also lost at Black Noir playing the piano:)

Knowing what I know about the comics, they are going to have quite a predicament when it’s time to reveal Black Noir’s identity. Probably more plot changes coming down the pike.

They can still do every thing else about that reveal. The only thing they will miss is Butcher's wife getting raped. Even then they could have Becca be a shape shifter.

Especially since the actor who plays Noir, Nathan Mitchell, is black;) So unless they CGI Starr's face there when/if Noir finally removes his mask, they're not going the whole storyline about Noir being an even stronger clone of the Homelander created by Vought to kill him if he loses control.

It won't work anything like the comic book; Black Noir was able to gaslight the Homelander into going crazy by raping and killing innocent people while wearing Homelander's costume, then sending him pictures of the atrocities he'd committed. Over time, this leads Homelander to believe he's actually a serial killer who's so far gone he can't even remember carrying out rape, murder and cannibalism(sometimes with the same victim:eek:)and destroys what little morality he did possess. As Butcher put it when the truth was finally revealed,

"It means you turned into a complete fuckin' psychopath by mistake".

I think it could still work. He has personally committed a series of atrocities in the TV show (creation of the super villains).

I actually prefer the show version of the Homelander; he's more intelligent, and therefor even more dangerous. His plan worked perfectly.

I'm glad they are deviating so much from the comics. It means those of us who have read them can still be surprised by the show:cool:

I agree. They are keeping the theme but are over playing their hand like Ennis has the tendency to do.

Even Ennis himself admits he does that at times,

"I said The Boys would, 'out-Punisher the Punisher'. What the fuck does that even mean?"

Rumour about season 2,

In the comic, Stormfront is ex-Hitler Youth and a fanatical Nazi. He's also the third strongest Supe; his DNA was used by Vought to create both Homelander and Black Noir. In season 2, a woman has been cast to play Stormfront.

I still think it's weird for an actual nazi to have the name of an American wannabe neo-nazi website.

I really enjoyed the show. Might give the comics a try if I can find the time.

The reference was deliberate. I love Ennis' work, but he's far from subtle. In the Boys-verse, the website was probably set up as a homage to Stormfront himself. Not only was he an OG Nazi who served with the Hitlerjugend and possibly met the Fuhrer himself, he was one of the strongest Supes in the world. A literal Nazi Ubermensch. He would have had a lot of fan boys among the Far Right.

I actually don't like this casting. Eva Bruan with super-powers just doesn't feel right.

The comics are very different from the show, but well worth a read. At their best, they're as good as anything Ennis has done.

Just finished it, and this is the goddamn reason why I usually don't get into TV series until there's three or four seasons out.

I fucking want to watch MORE right NOW, and I'm going to have to wait another fucking YEAR to find out what happens next after that epic plottwist cliffhanger?

If this gets cancelled, like Netflix seems to love doing (yeah, I know this isn't on Netflix), I am going to be so fucking pissed.

9.8/10

I haven't laughed so damn hard at a TV series in years at the 'Can you teach me how to outrun cancer?' line. I laughed for a straight minute at that one. Had to put the show on pause.

That was pure Garth Ennis gallows humor at its finest.

@Dragonlordxxxxx Are you going to write a review for this one?

If Chernobyl wasn't so perfect, I'd say this was the best series of the year. Though this could be said the best new series, and Chernobyl the best miniseries.

Starlight is pretty hot.
<mma4>

She certainly is a babe.

And what did time do to you, Jennifer Esposito? :(

Edit: That's actually massively unfair. She hardly looked bad. Who would have guessed that she wouldn't be the same beauty that she was a quarter of a century ago, though?

She still looks pretty good for 45.

Jennifer Shue, on the other hand.... throughout the series I was thinking "They're asking the audience to believe she just had a kid? She looks 55."

And I looked it up, and yep, she's 55.

Oh, and one more unrelated spoiler...

The absolute best unexpected moment was Haley Joel Osmond.

I thought he was just there for a cameo, an inside joke for those who would recognize him. And it was even more awesome I realized he was actually going to be a character.

He's still a pretty good actor for not doing any acting as an adult, and not acting for 15+ years.
