I dont think this movie gets a sequel TBH. It was ok as a once off but Im not dying to see more of this batman. I would be more excited for the new batman/flashpoint movie than a sequel to this.

Or just minutes earlier when an explosive device goes off inches from his face, and he doesn't even have so much as a burn mark.

Him being a bit nervous didn't bother me. Him hitting that bridge at 300mph and barely getting a scratch on him, really took me out of the whole "realism" thing they were going for, though.

Lol this has franchise written all over it and WB/DC will milk this cow.
Yeah 750 mil in what’s still a pandemic box office is major. They’re already seeing a billion plus minimum 2 years from now with even more people willing to go to a theatre

Yeah it's a detective movie but actually a pretty average one compared to other films in the genre. It takes elements of se7en and Zodiac and either nerfs them or dumbs them down.

I think its a weak spot in the movie tbh.

I have more muscle mass in my left toe than Pattinson.. No thug would ever be scared of this emo looking skeletor type batman.. Cmon.. It's a travesty when the best batman was from the Animated Series..

Also how can they disrespect Bruce Wayne like that? He's not supposed to be some depressed kid who is always sad. He is supposed to be the biggest figure in Gotham and has tons of business and charities to attend to.

I liked the movie. I get why people are complaining but I enjoyed a different take on the character. Would have been nice having a few more Zoe Kravitz in her underwear scenes though.

I was basing that off the general reaction that a majority of people have had, That the movie is very MEH and this isnt the direction the fans wanted a batman series to go in. They could always pull a TMNT 2 and change the 2nd ones tone a lot I suppose. Im not looking forward to much in this universe unless they use a great villain with a great actor. I like Matt Reeves alot too.

You are right though, WB/movie studios will only follow the bottom line and dont care much what fans want. I am glad they got to try something different with this.

I was too busy wondering why they transported him to the...Police Department(and not the hospital), completely unconscious and clearly in a bad way, without taking off his outfit to work on him, and make sure he was, you know, not gonna die of his injuries.

I'm usually not too nitpicky with those kind of details, but when the movie just flaunts them like that, it's a bit much to ignore. It wasn't like that bombing took place in a back alley among street thugs. It was a pretty significant event, and with all those professionals around, they wouldn't be able to just toss Bats in a van and drop him at some undisclosed location to protect his identity. They didn't even try to make that scenario the least bit believable.

I just seen the movie, and the part just took me out of it. I can suspend my disbelief for unbelievable shit, but when logic is throw out for mundane actions that people would make, thats when Im checked out. He wouldve been unmasked asap....

Another part is towards the end, when the mob dude had a whole 3 minutes to blast the shit out of the batman, only for some Deus Ex Machina shit to be pulled with Selina. Either dont put him in that scenario or have the bat save himself with a gadget or something.

The film looked damn gorgeous, some fantastic cinematography, some great acting, damn Selina Kyle looked fine as hell but the writing was the clear weak point. It was too indulgent and overlong. Still one of the better superhero movies...

Colin Farrell as Penguin.....holy shit. The makeup team deserves an Oscar for that shit.

???

He chose to not juice up for the role to not perpetuate unrealistic male body standards and for his health. I can understand it, but this Batman seems more reliant on skill and smarts rather than Brawn.

Pats portrayal of Batman and Bruce Wayne seems fantastically done and true to the source material. Pattinson being more muscled wouldve added zero to the portrayal. He looked like a dude who does his 3 days of BJJ.

I watched this the other night, and wow is this movie massively overrated. Every fan boy for the past month has been jizzing their pants over this flick, and I just felt completely indifferent after watching it. It's certainly not a bad movie by any means, but it's not some amazing piece of cinema either.

There's several things the movie does well; it looks great, the soundtrack is good, all the performances are on point, and I appreciated the greater focus on detective work in this as compared to previous Batman iterations.

Unfortunately, the movie as a whole just didn't resonate with me at all. I didn't find the detective work to be particularly engaging or thought provoking. The romance between Catwoman and Batman felt incredibly forced and literally comes out of nowhere. There's several scenes where Batman should have either been gravely injured or straight up dead, but he just shrugs it off like nothing happened. Batman can also simply walk though massive amounts of gunfire without even so much as a stumble, it mine as well be RoboCop fighting these petty thugs and gangsters. I bust out laughing when the Riddler cosplayer had Batman dead to rights at the end of the movie, but then decided to take 5 minutes to reload his shotgun, jesus christ. I was also not a fan of how the Riddler basically turned out to be an incel twitch streamer. Also, the Riddler's over the top reactions to his plans going wrong while in prison had me dying of laughter, he was acting like a 5 year old whose parents wouldn't buy him ice cream.

I know that seems like a lot of negative, but I'm just pointing out what didn't work for me and what stopped it from being a great movie in my opinion. I gave it a 7/10, but honestly a 6.5/10 would probably be more accurate.

I watched it Monday night on hbo max and this is my exact same reaction

after weeks of hype I was expecting so much more than this

still an enjoyable movie, but honestly I wish Ben affleck Picked up Batman instead of daredevil when he was younger, he’s the better Batman by far

They could have handled it like TDK: Bats is knocked out after a car chase and one of the Joker's goons tries to remove his mask, only to get hit with a taser charge. The costume is rigged to shock anyone who tries to remove it by force. Joker, of course, finds this hilarious.

Spider-Man: Marvel Knights took a more realistic approach. Spidey gets his ass handed to him by Electro; dislocated shoulder, severe burns, concussion etc. He's picked up by EMT's and taken to hospital. The first thing the ER doctor does is cut Spidey's mask off so she can intubate him,

EMT, "You can't do that! What about his Secret Identity?"

Surgeon, "What are you, twelve? Just help get this thing off before he chokes to death!"
