The Anime and Manga Thread v48

Who watched and/or read dbz, initial d and mf ghost here?
I didn't even know Initial D got a sequel. Huh.

I just wish Shuichi Shigeno had worked on improving his character art; dude can draw a car like nobody's business, but his people have always looked like ass.

Yes there’s a sequel but looks like a lot of initial d fans aren’t fan of mf ghost. Mf ghost have a bad timeslot in Japan and the 3rd season will be shown next year with only(most likely)12 episodes while at least 20 in each stages in initial d(except for the third)

I keep going back and forth if I want to commit to Hunter X Hunter all the way. I’m about halfway through, they're in the video game, but honestly, I just don’t care about Gon that much. I like most every other character but the protagonist does nothing for me.

Is it worth finishing?

Also watching AoT again with the wife, she’s actually in disbelief at how into it she is. And I’m going to watch Hidden Inventory for its theater release because JJK is peak.

When I started watching anime again, I've always kept hearing how great Hunter X Hunter was. At a glance, I didn't really connect with their character designs and their weird world. But once I started to really commit to watching it, it gradually won me over. I recommend you try to finish it so you can get to the Chimera Ant arc which is absolutely amazing and I finally understood the hype.

Who hasn't watched DBZ? I never got into Initial D and no idea what MF Ghost is. Back in the day I was mainly just into all the Dragon Ball series and growing up watched some of the classic movies. Fist of the North Star, Akira, Ghost in the Shell, Ninja Scroll, etc. I didn't get deep into anime until DBS aired 10 years ago. That sparked my interest to watch other anime.

I'm an 80's kid. UK.

Yes, it's worth finishing. The Chimera Ant arc is the best part of HxH so far (and I'm including the parts of the manga that haven't been adapted). Fair warning, it's a bit of a slow burn at first, but the conclusion more than makes it worthwhile.

Eleceed is getting an anime adaption, and based on the first look teaser it sure seems like they butchered the character designs.

Yea that's probably the worst arc in HXH. Chimera arc is really good.

Somewhat ironically, the chimera arc is where I stopped reading because it was the start of Togashi's artwork collapse when his illness first started really interfering with his finished product. Some of those chapters are barely more than a storyboard sketch.

One of the reasons I didn't jump on the manga after HxH reboot ended. I had an officemate who was a fan and he would show me the slow degradation of the artwork from the 1st page till the last. Togashi is swimming in Yuyu Hakusho and Sailor moon money though, so he probably doesn't give af.

I was watching HxH with a ten year old. I was laughing when my niece said Gon is so boring. She doesn't like Leorio because he looks old. Why does bootleg Sasuke always keep his hands in his pockets?

The first time I watched it I didn't like it. I felt the same way that it dragged on. When I rewatched the show though I really enjoyed it.
I was the same way. First time I watched it I thought the Chimera Ant Arc was the worst. The storyline kept dragging and it was excessive character development on the damn ants. It was just ant after ant after ant. After rewatching it I enjoyed it much more.

It was just ant after ant after ant.
Found this to be hilarious <lol>

Every time i hear about hxh i think that it is making a come back like one punch man, but it never happens.

This season, super cube was good, hero x going 2D was the best thing to happen, apothecary has been alright, cant imagine another season
