The Anime and Manga Thread v48

Loved watching S-Cry-ed growing up on Adult Swim. Wish it was a longer series.

And of course Big-O

It’s Showtime!

I can't remember big O. I must seen it a million times as reruns but it made no sense to me.

I will check it out. I tried watching Kingdom, but the CGI was so horrible I just couldn't get through the first episode
I think it slowly gets better because the series is old. The animation changes past season 1 or 2. The CGI is really bad though. I can understand people not liking the bushy brow art too.

Love Big-O. The characters and soundtrack.

Yeah ending and later episodes getting a little confusing. Still awesome.

lol i am going to go catch a recap of the story now. I honestly can't remember the story much. I thought it was confusing maybe due to a language translation thing.

Yea the CGI made me drop it in like the first 5 minutes. My daughter swears it's good though.

What did you guys think about the 2016 Berserk anime CGI? Just curious Lol

It wouldn't be my go to if I had a choice in creating that show but it was at least still watchable. There was another anime released last year that I saw with high ratings on my media server and had horrible CGI as well and I had to turn it off. I can't remember the name of it though.

@JBSchroeds

For the latest Northern Blade , long exposition about the Moyong Family's schemes , so even though they created the Silent Night, the Silent Night grew powerful enough to break away from his total control so that's a nice wildcard element. Also it seems like the Leader of the Iron Bridgade may have been a Discarded child of the Moyong Family , interesting reveals.

The movies aren't too bad. It tells the basic story. The animated series is when the money ran out. I watched a little bit of it but I wasn't into it. I ended up trying to read the manga instead. I am going to wait till it ends then I go finish it. The better animated berserk series is actually the old one.

I'm new around these parts. Mostly into manga these days but would still watch the odd new anime if it's supposed to be decent. I grew up on the anime they used to show in the middle of the night on channel 4, like Cyber City Oeodo 808, Akira, Vampire Hunter D etc.

So far this year, I've completed the following manga...

The Fable (Awesome)
My Dearest Self With Malice A Forethought (Not bad at all)
Gambling Apocolypse Kaiji (Fun but some bits wore out their welcome. I get what the mangaka was doing but he took the piss)
The Climber (Oustanding)
Until Your Bones Rot (worth a read at only 7 volumes)
Rainbow (Really liked this one)
Manhole (Short and decent)
Reiko The Zombie Shop (Wacky but fun)
Alice In Hell (Really enjoyed this too)
Black Paradox (More Junji Ito, what's not to like)

I've still got about 100 more on my to-read list but I'm always open to recommendations of anyone has any.

Sounds like you enjoy weirdo horror. Give Dorohedoro and Bio Meat a shot if you haven't.

I watched the anime of Dorohedoro on Netflix and quite enjoyed it. Bio Meat is one I've heard of but not looked into. Is it complete?

It is.

Also, Dorohedoro anime only covers around the first quarter of the manga.

The big exposition chunk annoyed the hell out of me. It was interesting, but dammit, if I wanted to read the novel I'd go read the novel.

Definitely did not see that reveal about the Iron Brigade dude coming.

Yeah the exposition piece fell flat because that art style was just used to tell a big chunk, I wouldn't have minded a couple of chapters to of better Art to explain that period.
