Hes basically a Loony Tunes character right now.

It reminds me of his fight with Crocodile but now he almost has no limits on his power , but it looks like this form is incredibly draining but can replenish itself

Sure I think its strongest with L but I really enjoyed the Near arc. Melo and Near are interesting characters in their own right, I just think the authors really nerfed Light to bring the story to an end.

Light and L portion is just the fucking best thing ever though.

Yea Light and L was some of the best anime there is. I hated the second half though and I thought the ending was kind of garbage. Not the worst ending but I just felt like there were so many better ways to do it.

Imo Lights's arrogance and god complex had to be his downfall....he was far too smart to fall otherwise. Its sort of like how you get lazier and lazier the more often you get away with a crime, causing your downfall.

I don't know if it it's a straight RetCon by ODA but considering how much longterm pre planning he does maybe not , the Gomu Gomu no MI isn't actually the Gomu Gomu no MI.

I think the twist is a bit lame story wise. He has this godlike fruit, which of course, is bound to the creativity of the user, but it takes away something of the whole plot and magic about it. Trying to get the fruit for 800 years? Joyboy, who even Oden and Roger waited for? Comon. That's weak writing imo. It's a power up mixed with "the chosen one" and a very simple explanation for all of it. A fruit ...

But still, Oda, as genious as he is, made up for it with charme, the gear 5 looks and humour. Its not the first ridiculous power up in the story, given the fight with Rob L. etc.
But these were just build on will/ friendship/ promises and not some outer source. Let's see where this will lead and after 20 years of excellent work, why not.

Dunno, they had the rule in the death note long before the subplot so it didnt pop out of nowhere but I can see why some people may feel like you did.

I loved it until all the time travel BS and the fact that everything Eren did was for nothing since Paradis got destroyed anyhow and the original parasite survived.
