Television The Anime and Manga Thread: v45

Just finished watching the first season of the Demon Slayer anime... Why the hell does everyone love this thing so much? I just don't get it. Character development is rather shallow, the story doesn't have much depth so far, huge swaths of backstory aren't explained at all, some characters are annoying as hell (lighting dude)... Am I missing something? Art style is good and the fights are solid at least.

Its due to animation

Plot is veery basic

@JBSchroeds Latest Northern Blade is out. I did not expect such a reunion so quickly. Felt like another short chapter , but yeah it will get you hooked line and sinker after that last Panel.
Yeah, that was far more sudden than I would have thought.

Hopefully the Author and Artists aren't being rushed to finish it . There are Many Plot points left to cover , but now that the Whole Wolrd knows that Jin Mu Won is a force to be reckoned with and his Father was innocent they can progress to the Main Conflicts a bit quicker.

Trying to watch Black Lagoon with English dubs... the Japanese VAs just sounds better like usual. The Japanese VAs get confusing during the couple episodes in Japan as the Japanese Yakuza are all supposedly speaking a foreign language (Rock keeps having to translate) but it gets confusing cause you hear the Yakuza speak amongst themselves in Japanese and have Rock translate for Balalaika but then Balalaika points a gun at Rock and talks to him in Japanese.

Watch the movie.

And Zenitsu is awesome you take that back.

Solo Leveling coming to an end. To me Season 2 didn't match Season 1 . Season 2 had way more material to work with considering it was doing the 2nd part of the Light Novel. The interaction with the architect was better written in the LN and the Chairman and his Father's Death could have been elaborated on better.

I was considering writing a post about it, but decided not to with my whole "be more positive" pledge. But since it's come up...

I've hated the last dozen or so chapters of this series. IMO its fallen flat on its face. It's pulling a GoT, where the ending is so much worse than everything else, consisting of poorly resolved plot threads and rushed storytelling, that it's gone from an easily-suggest-must-read to a don't-waste-your-time. Its the biggest fall from grace that I can remember off the top of my head. That father plotline was one of the most poorly handled pieces of writing I've seen in a good while.

It's a popular series and the Book Material used fine , if they actually took the time to elaborate on details. As it stands "Season 2" was over 30 chapters shorter than Season 1 and its didn't make any sense.

I like Demon Slayer. I agree with most of what you said here but I do like it. Don't get me wrong I don't think it's the GOAT and wouldn't even put it in my top 10 list but I do think it's a good anime.

Started watching "That Time I reincarnated as a slime" on the weekend, I'm almost finished it now. Much better than I expected it to be.

Good show. Second season kind of pissed me off with 7 or so episodes of non stop talking about shit that really didn't need so much explanation. Will be easier to get through though since they are all out now and your not waiting weekly.

Yeah we just passed the 5 episodes of them talking about Veldora, talking about demon lords, talking about fucking everything. Thank god I'm not waiting week to week.

I like Zenitsu, I really dislike the boar head guy whose name I cannot remember.

Inosuke

I like all of them. Season 2 Inosuke is really growing and they all showed growth in the movie.

I'm really digging the slower pace of these last couple episodes with the new focus on setting up the story and drama

Somehow they've actually made Zensitzu into a likeable character, and seeing a different side to Inosuke has also been cool. Tbh both characters are more interesting then Tanjiro atm..

Demon waifu is pretty damn legit so far and I'm loving the slow burn up to the impending shitstorm

Thank god they are redeeming themselves for re-airing the entire movie as the first half of this season

As a massive Jojo fan I have to admit this kinda hit me in the feels.

Stardust crusaders Is just a legendary arc.

Inoske is sick. They all have good character growth.

Inosuke is best character on show

Hilariously its kinda hinted that zenitsu is the most powerful out of 3 (when hes asleep)

Tbf I think the Mugen train was originally supposed to air the way they set it as the beginning of this season. The movie thing was like a last minute change to make more money.

Also demon girl is fucking stacked.
