The military also uses 5.56 as its standard round, even though 30 caliber rounds have MUCH more penetration.
Depends what you're shooting! Speed penetrates steel easier than mass.

Really, you've yet to show any evidence that a fucking accessory, like a pistol grip, grants a shooter the magical powers of shooting faster, ducking into and out of cover or whatever other silly, ignorant bullshit you believe. It's an accessory which is largely preferential and ineffectual, especially in a firearm which wasn't designed to accommodate it, like a bolt action rifle with a tang safety or a shotgun with crossbolt safety in front of the trigger guard, out of reach. Kicking and screaming, "well the military uses it, it must be deadlier" without showing any actual evidence shows how weak your argument is.yes i do.
and literally every fucking military on the fucking planet agrees with this you stupid, ignorant sherbro poster.
el oh el.

Which totally ignores the fact that placing a shorter LOP field stock, can achieve the same degree of manoeuvrability. More spouting from an ignorant ass quack who doesn't know what the fuck he's talking about. What if someone wants to use it for home self defense? That's not a situation that's a high stress situation that would require someone to manipulate the weapon as quickly as possible?

It's like any anti-gun bullshit, they don't get their way, so they try to game the system to cast a wide enough net that hopefully whichever firearm they find evil at the time, is prohibited under that large umbrella. It's not different that "assault rifles", "armour piercing" rifles or any other kind of stupid misnomers and spound bites that ignorant people. The end goal is total civilian disarmament. When your "assault rifle" is gone, your "sniper rifle" (hunting rifle) is next, and so on.Yeah, I just want him to continue on with his argument. From what I'm reading, I don't think there's any non-arbitrary reason he wants pistol grips outlawed. He just reverts back to goal shifting when you try and grant him the premise that it makes a weapon more effective.
never mind I see your angle.
My argument is sound. Of the two rifles, which one does the US ARMY equip their soldiers with? Then ask yourself why they do that. Your argument is still closed minded and ignorant. And I giggle that you still laugh about it and post it like it's a joke, trying to get reassurance from your fellow idiots.
"but but they use the same bullets, same cartridges and same shells...wtf?"
one is designed for combat. for running and firing and quick aim. One is longer, more clumsy can snag on shit and takes slightly longer to draw and aim.
The only problem is I'm in a thread with a collection of idiots who think the design and shape of something doesn't matter. It's like the difference between two cars with the same horsepower, the same transmission...one is designed for better cornering and is lighter for a faster straightaway...the other is fucking toaster shaped.
That's a product of the design. Design...it's a thing fella... go look it up.
Don't feed the previously banned gun controll. The M1 Garand wasn't designed for combat?
Even if a pistol grip were to allow shooters to draw and aim slightly faster on average than a traditional stock, the idea that this makes it too dangerous to be legal is ridiculous. It's be like banning cars from going faster than 55 mph on the basis that a pedestrian hit by a 56 mph car is .1% more likely not to be killed than a pedestrian hit by someone driving 55 mph.
Further, I think the pistol grip actually would make the rifle harder to conceal and more likely to get caught on things than a traditional stock.
I think we better keep it a secret that rifles used to shoot deer; while you're presumably scratching your ass and drinking a coffee, were originally designed for shooting people:The M1 Garand wasn't designed for combat?

I'm not sure it's that simple.

Even if 5.56 penetrated more than 7.62x39 (or any other intermediate 30 caliber round) in steel, neither our military nor rampage shooters are targeting people wearing suits of armor.
President Barack Obama announced new steps Friday to help curb gun violence, including by identifying the requirements that "smart guns" would have to meet for law enforcement agencies to buy and use them as well as sharing mental health records with the federal background check system.
The Defense Department will continue to help manufacturers test smart firearms under real-world conditions at the U.S. Army Aberdeen Test Center in Maryland.
I foresee grievances out the wazoo. No cop wants have to check signal strength, battery life, call IT, etc. when there's a malfunction. Figuring out the holsters is hard enough for some.https://www.yahoo.com/news/obama-announces-steps-reduce-gun-violence-150019265.html
What a great new idea to have the federal agencies using smart gun technology. I'm interested to see how that goes.
This next part here I included just because it made me laugh.

What's good for the goose, is good for the gander. If you can't trust a civilian with anything bigger than a 10-round magazine, you shouldn't trust a 50-round, once-a-year qualified cop with it either. But but, common sense bro.
The fact that you think that a chunk of plastic, which goes in your hand, makes it easier to run around and duck...LOL...I can't even keep a straight face while typing. Thanks for the entertainment bro, the day would have gone by so much slower if you didn't bring the LULZ.Because I'm not gonna reply to every gun hugging but hurt poster in this thread...(thanks for finally admitting that "hey maybe a pistol grip, shorter barrel and everything else actually does lend itself as a better design in combat scenerios versus deer hunting..."
The point was always,
WHY WOULD I WANT TO MAKE IT EASIER ON YOU IF YOU WANT TO GO SHOOT PEOPLE?
I'd much rather you were armed with a smaller clip, long ass clumsy barrel...stock grip that makes aiming from a run slightly slower and awkward. But hey...that's just common sense. But in M'urica...apparently it's a necessity to be armed 30X over with guns designed for combat in order to feel safe.
lol
If home invasion happens, you really are only going to be able to grab 1 damn gun to protect yourselves...not 30. But apparently 30 guns is what it takes for some of you to sleep easier.
