The '80s' as we know it was probably only a 3-year period between 1983-1986

It’s the opposite for me(because I’m old). If I hear that someone was born in 1995, I feel like they should be 5 years old.

To be honest most of them reason like fucking children.
I would know, I'm a '96

Wasn't that precisely 1980? Then took office in '81?

Mandatory note: FUCK RONALD REAGAN
Yeah, elected in Nov ‘80, and sword in Jan ‘81. Hinckley shot his ass in ‘81 too. That’s a pretty quintessential 80s event. I think every “0” year that’s also an election year plays a pretty significant role in giving a decade its identity. JFK in ‘60, Reagan in ‘80, Bush in 2000.

Pac man is the 80’s. However Galaga was my personal jam.

It's weird, to my eyes giving that much importance to elections is alien as fuck. I don't think we ever had a government run for more than 3 years. Beside Mussolini. Yes we like to shoot ourselves in the foot.

To me the 80s mean: earthquake, cocaine and camorra feuds, and my boy in the pic giving us two national titles. Also related to cocaine.
So mostly cocaine. And earthquakes.

Watching this 80’s song quiz kinda does support the theory.
Music in it from 80-82 for the most part had more of a 70’s feel, and from 88-on more of an early 90’s feel.

Thriller and 1999 came out in 82. Michael Jackson and Prince were synonymous with the 80s.

Yeah, we had our share of cocaine and earthquakes too. In fact, there was one during the World Series game in ‘89 I think it was?
And I definitely think that in the U.S., presidents are thought of along with their decade. Reagan is very 80s, Clinton is very ‘90s. The first decade of the 2000s was defined by 9/11 and the War On Terror, which is synonymous with George W. Bush.

The 80’s went well into the 90’s

In Living Color is so 80’s to me and it ran from 90-94

@El Panteron in ‘81 there was an assassination attempt on the Pope, too.

Disagree it was like 81 to 89 .

Damn I miss the 80s....... the era I grew up (born in 73) . The last era when it was okay to be a white hetero male.

I have great news! It’s still ok to be that.

That’s exactly what he’s talking about. Those don’t fit the “80’s theme”

Yes they do. 90s rap was defined by gangster rap and G Funk. The sound and content of the records changed.

Right! I think there was another one too shortly after. I mean how difficult can it be to kill some old dude?
I actuallt thought it happened much later. Maybe because people kept mentioning it well into the 2000's (in hindsight of course they do, someone tried to off the pope).

Always hated Giovanni Paolo II man. He was a true nazi at heart.

Dude, hip hop started for me in 87. So.....no.

That's just few of the brands and intellectual properties that came from the other years (most of that shit spun off into comics, video games and just faces you saw on posters, magazines and talk shows). I don't have the entire day to list all the music (and a lot of this movie list applies - TMNT theme, RoboCop theme, etc.). 1980 had the "Miracle on Ice" at the 1980 Winter Olympics. NY Islanders became Stanley Cup champs 4 years in a row in 80, 81, 82, 83. 1981 spawned the first computer virus. Also, the Golden Age of Arcade Gaming is listed to have ended in 1983. For whatever that is worth.

A ton of iconic stuff happened in those years. I might even argue more iconic than the years you mentioned.

I have great news! It’s still ok to be that.
Naaaaw

Whites now are evil oppressors of women, gheys, an all minorities. They are the debil. That's what TV , news , and current rules of PC tell me.
