That Ben Askren fight was a disappointment

I’ll bet @Alanf7 would disagree!

I’m disappointed that the ref took so long to get over there and wave it off. Could have been a 3 second stoppage. Crazy that Jorge has a bad habit of being too relaxed and not pressing hard enough leading to decision losses then busts out this in one of his biggest fights. Just awesome.

Awesome KO which was cool to see, but I’d rather see noname fighters do these quick finishes as I want to know who is the best and a fight that ends in 2 seconds only tells me one guy messed up and the other one got very lucky. Hopefully they rematch at some point. I think a Askren should be able to beat Masvidal quite easily under normal circumstances and Masvidal for sure deserves to get wrestlefucked by Askren after his despicable antics and late shots.

It was an awesome way to get someone out of there really quick but it doesn't prove who the better fighter is. That is a one in a million result. Would never happen again.
Early stoppage Ben gave thumbs up in his anos

Coulda woulda shoulda Ben currently is in a medically induced coma.

For me it was the complete opposite of a disappointment. Unless you are a big Askren fan I don't know how anybody could be unhappy with witnessing the quickest and one of the best KO's in UFC history.

I was getting so hyped for that fight before it started, then the ko came and it was monumental. We'll be talking about this for years.

No ts, it was not disappointing.

No way.

A good fight ok that's fun of course. But not likely to be MMA history. Consider Yair vs Zombie - good fight pretty violent lots of fun.. what made it historical was the last second. Otherwise it's just another good fight.

Last night was historical. That replay will be engrained in UFC shit for decades.

Plus Ben needed to humbled.

Spectacular finish but very disappointing yes.

I dont care what any one says when something ends that quickly theres always a whiff of flukeyness.
Dont get me wrong Jorge timed that fucker perfect and ben was recklessly predictable though.

This was a pretty big WW fight whether you want to belive it or not.
Nope. Askren is not a big name fight. He never was rightfully. Just over blown hype that was never UFC level. I mean I guess you're right punk vs gall was a big fight

ummm nah I'd say that was pretty satisfying buddy

and I like Askren lol

It was a disappointment, I wish Jorge would have landed 5-6 more punches to Ben's dead body.

Even if you were a Ben Askren hater you have to admit you wanted to see the fight last longer. Just like we all wanted to see the Conor vs. Aldo fight last longer even those of us who badly wanted to see Aldo lose.

Ben's 2 fights in the UFC have both been disappointing. 1st fight - Herb Dean robs us of a definitive ending and then 2nd fiht lasts a few seconds.

I guess now a Robbie Lawler rematch is next for Ben....either that or Darren Till.

I think he can get back up and solidify a couple decent wins....he still has a good 1 or 2 years left and his style doesn't rely on explosiveness/power, meaning more longevity.
I love that Ben can never make this right. It will completely haunt him for life. He didnt just lose, he lost in record time. No redemption. So yeah. I loved it. Next topic.

Dissapointed or not, we haven't seen him at his rasslin best so far in the UFC, that's for sure.

Hope he can come back from this.

If he wins the rematch in dominant fashion he will be redeemed no?

We will never forget this but that's the same with any memorabke results.

It's not as if that's the fastest KO ever, there has been several faster....not that it matters.

It was a great performance landing that knee by Masvidal, but it's a low percentage move and I think that if the fight gets to get into its groove Askren is the favorite. As usual the quick finishes don't necessarily say all that much about how the fighters stack up overall, but it's of course a real highlight and a perfectly legit result when it mattered.

I get the feeling of disappointment though. While it was a very nice finish it wasn't really a fight and it just touched the surface on what this match up could have delivered. I would have been more excited about Masvidal proving me wrong and showing that he could beat Askren over time, for example. At least in terms of excitement that lasts beyond the initial rush of feelings.

Yeah my man got robbed a few seconds by the ref.

Jorge is the man im happy af rn bro.

People are complaining about KOs now?

Completely happy with it and I really like Ben. I don't know if it's just me, but I love extremely spectacular quick KTFOs!
