Perhaps but I really think that's punishing the minority, but the majority also suffer. Just my two cents though, maybe the victim was a real good dog owner, but I have yet to read that. It's just pitbulls attack and kill owner which is very unfortunate to read and puts an even worse stereotype on what's already a bad stereotype on the breed.

It is an easy yes to your last question. They do nothing useful that another type of dog cannot do itself.

Tbf, that goes for other breeds too, but we have an actual good reason(if you’re against dogs killing humans at a good pace that is) for not breeding them. Would say to stop breeding pugs too, but for vastly different reasons.

Exactly . If you want a guard dog, a German Shepherd will do the trick, they're also far more intelligent and even though they can snap and turn, you start booting and stabbing and they'll stop. They don't have the never ending bloodlust risk that a pit bull has. It might not make you look as "badass" though to have one of them over a pit bull which is the biggest problem here. Its mainly a certain type of owner that wants them.

I will say, I don't find pitbulls unappealing to look at. Aesthetically they can be very handsome looking dogs. But fuck the risk. They make me so uncomfortable. I've only been around two - a Pakistani mate I had, who told the police they were mixed breed but bragged to his peers that they were actually illegal pits. I hated being around them.

Not sure what causes dogs to snap and perhaps in freak accidents it is just random, but I've owned two pitbulls from the same lineage, and with proper discipline, I've yet to encounter a serious problem.

I've owned dogs for decades. Had a rottweiler, a doberman and a pitbull all at the same time (the rottweiler was the very, very clear alpha, lol). Any decent dog owner knows exactly why those dogs did it. Every dog I've ever known to turn on their owners? Let's just say.... I'm not surprised, mother fuckers.
