that has never been how society works when it comes to infectious diseases though.
Ebola has hit had its feet on US Soil 11 times and society is under no obligation to let the people with Ebola YOLO and just decide they are going to Disney World or Time Square to die on their own terms.
So we can argue over what is an appropriate line for gov't to be allowed to impose rules, but lets not pretend America ever was or will be simple a YOLO nation when it comes to disease.
And worse. the problem with the Virus Chuds, is that they do not just demand the right to go out and spread their virus and if you don't like it protect yourself. But they also fight to make sure others cannot protect themselves other than becoming a shut in.
Chuds seek out law makers like DeSantis who first grant them the right to walk around and spread their disease (fine) but then they want him to make laws that allows them to force themselves in to the spaces where people are trying to protect themselves.
If a Senior vulnerable person owns a restaurant in a retirement area in Florida and wants to serve only vaccinated and masked and tested clients, and who has clients who are also seniors who only want to be served by same, the Chudds and DeSantis say 'nuh huh. We demand access to that space too.... and if you don't like the risk we pose stay home'.
No one gets to have it both ways. Your freedom to bathe in and embrace the virus (fine) but you refuse to allow others to not associate with you (deeply wrong).
