Terrible decision.... Blaydes lost that fight

Yeah that’s true. He certainly isn’t a title contender anymore but who really is at heavyweight?
In a deeper Division Curtis wouldn't be but the division is a wasteland so he's always going to be a title contender. Volkov is the only one who deserves a TS in this division right now.

I agree. I don’t think gane deserves a shot right now either. Which again shows how shallow the division is and frankly shows it’s one of the worst divisions in the sport.

Blaydes won but hes a Gatekeeper n will ne rest of career. It will make him a good living but he never sniffs belt again

Blaydes did not look like himself yesterday. Out of shape, low energy.

Because nothing has ever changed over time.

A true student of history ladies and gentlemen!
I mean all jokes aside it's been over thirty years and never at any point has it looked like we were close to moving to that scoring system.

If you've done more damage in one round than the other guy did in the entire fight, you deserve the win.
If one good strike breaks a nose or swells an eye shut, that's winning most fights in your judging criteria. That's ridiculous

Pops for 4 different roids and people here are okay with it <lmao>
It's just as bad that the UFC doesn't seem to be worried about it either. Why, I wonder...
Maybe they have the same point of view as the retards here who say that everyone is on the juice.

In his previous fights Blaydes looked like he was making some decent progress with his striking, but in this fight he looked like he lost all confidence in it. If he really did mess up his MCL in the first, that could explain it.

He still did enough to win the 1st and 3rd though.

He's been able to keep up a pretty high level of fighting for a fairly long time now, maybe he has finally started to decline enough for it to be noticed.

Maybe they will, maybe they won't.

There have been different rule sets in different promotions and they've been slightly toggled at times. It's kind of up to the promotion itself to determine if things should change, since they are the ones paying off the athletic commissions.

Also the phrase "a hill I will die on" means "an opinion that won't change" which is regardless of if things change or not. So I will always advocate for scoring fights as a whole based on total cumulative damage whether or not promotions adhere to that vision.

In close decisions, I always check the media scores. Looks like almost a clean sweep for Kuniev. Pretty wild.

Thats only winning the fight if the other guy does literally nothing. That's exactly the Leon vs Belal fight, which nobody would have given Leon based on everything else that happened in the fight.

The media knows shit all about scoring close fights, and this is just more proof of that.
Ehhh, comments underneath sort of defend the decision. It's a good fight to show how wide the judging criteria is. I honestly have no dog in who really won, don't care for either fighter. Still very interesting how evolving judging has become over the years. I've been watching forever and I've only become less certain of the criteria over time myself.

That's also how Henderson beat Edgar.
