they should just use norman reedus as the stand in to edward furlong since he looks like eddie. ALso that kid in Stranger things can pass as an older edward.

The problem is that I think Cameron at the helm was the most significant key of the Terminator films' success. More than Hamilton (who was great). Hell, even more than Ahhnold. If Cameron were back directing this, I'd have more confidence. As it stands, I'd say it's way more likely that a non-Cameron entry is underwhelming, even with Schwarzenegger, Hamilton, Furlong..

James Cameron directed both Michael Biehn and Linda Hamilton to career best performances. The one thing he gets the least credit for, but deserves perhaps the most for, is being an actors' director. Actors reach levels under his eye that they rarely or never do with anyone else.

The combination of Cameron directing Hamilton would be great cause for optimism. Just Linda Hamilton returning on its own... It's better than no Linda Hamilton, but it's not the same thing.
