I think 3 could have been interesting if they got Linda back and Eddie Furlong wasn't messed up. I know the original plan was to have them but Eddie couldn't stay clean. I think a story of him not living up to Linda's vision could have worked. T3 has its moments but unfortunately is ultimately pointless which is what seemingly happens with all of the number 3s in franchises.

With the right intentions, Terminator 3 could have at least been a Rambo 3. Something respectable and in the right spirit.

John Connor not living up to the vision could have been interesting, but the goofs that wrote Terminator 3 certainly couldn't have pulled it off. They wrote John Connor as a damsel in distress from start to finish, being whisked along to safety by jokey Terminator and some girl from junior high.

I would say it is literally impossible for people to write and film "Chief Master Sergeant William Candy" and also have a filmmaking intent that is in any way compatible with what the Terminator franchise was at the time.

The list of what they screwed up in that third film is just so long... The film was so far off the mark that it somehow actually managed to not show sufficient respect to both Dr. Silberman and Cyberdyne Systems.

And it's not exactly easy to insult a character that commands as little reverence as Dr. Silberman.

I would have respected the attempt at Terminator 3 if the intent hadn't been to make a joke of the serious things in the first two films. I mean, there were plenty of other problems with the writing and directing, but going right to parody on the heels of a movie like T2 is unforgivable.

Again though I do think one thing in its favour is that it does seem to know its rather inconsequential and instead focuses on cheaper entertainment. Salvation by comparison looks to take itself a lot more seriously yet I think fails on pretty much every level, theres really nothing positive I remember about that film where as at least T-3 has some decent action scenes and a few fun jokes.

Terminator Salvation doesn't follow any of the original lore from the first 2 movies

Terminator Salvation is a sequel to Terminator 3 and not T1/T2

John Connor meeting Kyle Reese in a Skynet work camp and training soldiers in order to escape and start the resistance

Pretty sure that doesn't happen in TSalvation

You have the fans waiting since the 80's for a Terminator movie set in the future and we get this dud. Something that doesn't even follow the original lore

Also the future battle scenes in T2/T1 are infinitely better than anything seen in Salvation

I also didn't like the actor they got for Kyle Reese. Why does Kyle Reese need to be some soyboy?

Casting is such a big fucking problem for these recent Terminator films

Crazy to think that Brain Austin Green from 90210 is the second best Reese in the Terminator franchise

He isn't Kyle but he is Derrick and that's good enough

Seems like Terminator Dark Fate has potentially had an early screening

Some plot details have leaked

Given that the leaks are true it looks like Terminator Date Fate has taken subverting expectations to the next level

So I read the leaks and now the movie just sounds like a mishmash of ideas from the other Terminator sequels.

Judgement Day not being stopped but just postponed - straight from Terminator 3

Female Terminator - Terminator 3

Terminator thinks it's human - Salvation

Branching timelines - Genisys

New computer program becomes Skynet - Genisys

Terminator ages - Genisys

This sounds awful. If the creators hated the movies after 2 so much why not do something original instead of lifting ideas from all of the much maligned sequels? What the hell is happening with this movie?

Major spoiler: Warning

This could be total bs so dont @ me - I read it somewhere on here, somebody knows somebody that saw an advance screening, w/ever.

I'd given up on this franchise long ago so I had no problem reading spoilers....

If you're wondering why no John Connor in the trailers

John and Sarah flee to Mexico after T2, but John gets whacked by another Terminator. No more JC. Film picks up years after this, Skynet is gone but is replaced by a new entity 'Legion'

Lol

Zero fucks given here. It's a dead franchise.

I don't think it's even worth talking about which is better between T1 and T2. They're both masterpieces for different reasons.

T1 has immaculate tone, with great, tense scenes and a sense of foreboding you rarely get. Michael Biehn is fucking awesome as Kyle Reese.

This scene still gives me goosebumps:

T2 has some of the greatest action set pieces of all time, the relationships between John and both Arnie and his mom are frickin incredible and the T-1000 is arguably the greatest villain in movie history. Sarah Connor in T2 is the best heroine of all time, I'd say her flaws make her more compelling than Ellen Ripley. Linda Hamilton deserves an oscar for that shit.

Everything after T2 has been absolute fucking trash.

Anton yelchin (RIP) wasn't masculine enough, but idk if he was a soyboy. Plus it's not nice to speak ill of the dead.

But yeah, T3 with Furlong, and furlong not being pathetic and useless, well it could have been decent. Look at how badass Sarah Connor became between T1 And T2.. I don't care if they needed to incarcerate Furlong to get him in shape, they should have got him to sign off and done it. 50% of the script could have stayed, and we could have had a good T3. Frankly, I can still watch it even now, but it's nothing compared to the first 2.

So this is an alternate timeline, right? Because Sarah Connor was dead in T3, and Arnie's T800 sacrificed himself at the end of T2. I'm sooo confused.

The Sarah one is easy, as even I figured the terminator had has been given bad information on purpose.

Man, the writing for Genisys really was dog shit, but Arnold did do a great job with what he was given.

It’s astounding how far this franchise has fallen.

Terry Crews deserved a best supporting actor nomination.

Action-wise, this scene has some merits, but Jesus, no scene where a Terminator fucking tosses its prey ten feet instead of instantly killing it is any good.

John Connor gets thrown by Terminators all fucking movie. It makes them into a joke. What kind of programming is that? You are targeted for at least a bruised shoulder and maybe a sprained ankle.

In reality just being grabbed by the terminator would probably crush your bones

Terminator 1 is basically a (really good) slasher movie

James Cameron was heavily influenced by John Carpenter (one of his earliest jobs was doing sfx for Escape From New York)

You knew that the second Arnold from T1 got hold of you, he was snapping necks. Weren't gonna be any fractured clavicles and calling it a day.

That Terminator in your clip had NO LEGS, so it threw John Connor to where it couldn't reach him or walk to him. Awesome killing machine.

Two separate times it catches him and then throws him to where it can only slowly crawl to him.
