After extensive rewatches of both Terminator 1 and Terminator 2

I have come to the only suitable conclusion......Terminator 1 is just wayyyyy better than Terminator 2

According to terminator lore

John Connor and his resistance group smashed the defensive grid of Skynet. - Kyle Reese says this in T1

Skynet realizes the only way to win the war is to send Terminators back in time to deal with John

Skynet sends the T-800 to kill Sarah Connor and as a backup plan Skynet also sends the T-1000 to kill John

Future John Connor is aware of this so he sends Kyle Reese to fight the T-800 and he sends a reprogrammed T-800 to fight the T-1000

Afterwards, John and the rest of his resistance group blow up the Time Displacement device so nobody else could go through - Kyle Reese says this in T1

Terminator 3 and on

Have some sort of alternate timeline that doesn't even follow the timeline that Kyle Reese has come from

They fucked it up

That's why Skynet can continue to send Terminators back in time even to the War has already been won by the resistance

Whats even more fucked up is Terminator Genysis tries to piggy back off this entire scene

And fucks the entire thing up by introducing Alex

Well that looks...... bad. Hooray, girl power?

<DisgustingHHH>

i hated the trailer. seems like the reveal last march was more popular and had more story then cheap cgi.

i hope its not girl power rubbish for 3hrs.i dont much have a ounce of hope for the franchise anymore. i hope its good.i doubt it
.

any time you fuck with time like end game or terminator it complicates a already difficult situation. less is more.

I'm just getting tired of the forced political messages being tacked onto entertainment. Just make a good movie. But after genesis and covenant I lost hope for the terminator and alien franchises. Predator as well. It feels like it shouldn't be hard to make a good movie with legendary source material.

Honestly if they won't stop making movies for these franchises, I'd rather they get competent writers and directors and just hard reboot all of them. Get away from the continuity of these awful new movies entirely.

Ok I may be in the minority here but Linda Hamilton was one fo the only believable female action leads, in my mind Sarah Connor, Ripley and Vasquez make up the holy trinity of female action heroes.

Hopefully she can pull it off.

That said the movie looks like another CGI shitfest. Practical effects are what made Terminator awesome.

practical effects yes but terminator 1 and 2 had a legit story that was captivating and revolutionary at that time. Arnold was deezed and a believable killing Machine. t2 is a master piece. afterward, it got lazy. it was messy and riding a near life time worth of crap on the first couple of movies. t1000 was ominous and cold. the trailer had a weird soyboy. its already losing me.

end game was good. infinity war was too. i liked Shazam. starwars is near dead to me. rey does nothing but is goat jedi just because girl power.

I'm out fellas. the last mission impossible was great.

I rewatched Terminator 3

When people say they like this movie or that its underrated ,what aspects of the movie are they talking about?

The story of Terminator 3 is that Skynet sends back the TX in order to terminate Brewster and some other nobodies.

I'm not going to talk about the obvious shit. I guess my main problem with the movie is that it is just action schlock

Not a lot of stuff even happens in this fucking movie when you actually think about it. It honestly feels like a 20-minute movie that is stretched out by adding long action scenes

The action scenes are not apart of the story like in T1 and T2. In T3 it seems like the story is written to set up the action scenes.

What I'm saying is that all the non-action scenes in Terminator 3 exist only to set up the action scenes in the movie and those scenes do a piss poor job on setting up the action.

For Example, in Terminator 1 there is a crap ton of build up to the Police Station shootout scene. Almost throughout the entire movie, the police are trying to locate Sarah Connor. And you know that the Terminator and the police are going to run into each other. Its like 2 trains that are speeding towards each other and it's coming and you stop it.

Now let's compare that to the Cemetary scene in T3 which in essence is just a cheap imitation of the Cyberdyne scene from T2. They even give Arnold a minigun Once our main characters get to the cemetery it's like the fucking cops appear out of thin air. The director needed some cops in order for Arnold to show off the minigun so they just teleported some cops out of nowhere. The only thing they give you is fucking some gas station clerk who writes down the licenses plate but that doesn't explain cops who teleport. There is no build up to the scene at all. The scene just happens and just ends and its just just. Yes just just. Its just a shitty scene bro.

Another thing that really is shit is how they handle the TX in this movie. For Example, in Terminator 1 the main characters never ever felt safe..The Terminator was out there and he was coming to get you and not even a police station full of cops can save you. There is none of this in T3. When the TX is not on screen your not even thinking about the fucking thing. There is no fucking tension what so ever in Terminator 3. The TX fails and get F- in that regard. The TX is just not a good character at all. It has cool flashy abilities but these abilities make no sense. Cars are not automated how does this thing hack into cars that have GEARS AND LEVERS on them. What the fuck.

The just can't fucking help it sherbros

They need to insert shitty action schlock at every single opportunity

Build up and good writing is non existent to these assholes

The Tech Noir scene from Terminator 1 is pretty much a masterclass in how to create a good tense action scene.

Don't forget that Earl Boen got teleported there too just so he could make a pathetic joke of his own character.

Every scene in T1 and T2 has meaning.

Just those five minutes have numerous extra layers. The irony of "machines need love too" and the irony that the robot is doing a better job of blending into 1980s society than the human war vet raised in the rubble and living on rats.

James Cameron is a perfectionist. The dipshits involved in Terminator 3 to 5 were anything but. I think all three scripts were written in Kripke's basement.

I rewatched Terminator 3

I'll answer cos I genuinely like Rise of the machines.

Firstly what I'd say is you compare T3 too much in your mind against the first 2.

If you just readily accept, as I did, that those films can never be matched in advance, you may be able to enjoy it much more.

Here's just a quick checklist of what I enjoyed:

Kristanna Loken introduction (her body was smoking)
Arnold introduction (the goat is back)
I lol'ed at the bar scene (it was goofy jokes but I didn't care, still dont)
Tx drive by on the drive through worker, kid at house party (ruthless biatch)
Scene where THEY ALL meet at vets (moment Tx finds Connor dna)
The crane chase (one of the best action scenes of the noughties)
Arnold's 1 liners ('we need a new vehicle' hilarious deadpanning)
I was pumped by the graveyard scene (Arnie unloading that big ass gun)
Arnold v Tx fight scene (loved the bathroom brawl)
I enjoyed the twist (they were 'only meant to survive judgement day')
Moving ending
I liked the visuals
Marco Beltrami soundtrack

I allowed myself to enjoy it on it's own merit, disregarding how much better the first 2 were, and I guess I just enjoyed the things you didn't. Plus I guess I have a higher tolerance of crap ; )

I don't even ask for much, a film at the level of 'Predators' is acceptable. Unfortunately, that and Prometheus are the only films worth half a damn out of all the (Alien / Predator / Terminator) reboots and they should be the bottom of a norm, not the best of them. Oh well, at least we got an amazing Bladerunner sequel.

Watch 'Upgrade' if you haven't seen it. I watched it yesterday and it has a Robocop / Terminator vibe to it along with good storytelling and twists.

They were so great, I wish I could erase my memories and watch the movies like it were the first time.
