If they do it right it would be ok, but not just to push a “female ajenda”

The first film centered around Sarah, but I wouldn’t call it a female centric film. They did it right.

The Sarah Connor cronicals also had two main female characters Sarah Connor and Summer as the female terminator

They did it right and didn’t push it as “female centric “

It’s when they try to push it that way , that they often fail, where as when it’s “organically” female centric it works well instead of pushing it that way.

The new Doom movie was supposed to be a big deal with the new popularity from doom 2016, and eternal coming out.

They decided to go “female centric” and had a host of problems with financiers etc when this was found out and had its budget slashed, and will go straight to dvd now.

Why does Hollywood try and “Push” female centric so hard when it always fails, we don’t want it pushed that way.

But if it’s done right, and is organically that way it is awesome and no one has issues?

Ie Alien, and terminator 1 etc.

I’ll add that it’s gotta be ‘R’ rated too. Don’t limit this shit imo

Who knows what Cameron really means when he says that. It's hard to take him at face value.

He said T3 was "great"

He said T5 was a "revitalization of the franchise".

The one thing going for it this time is that he is directly involved since he has the rights back.

I'm cautiously optimistic.

PS - I really enjoyed The Sarah Connor Chronicles and was sad that it didn't do well

Agreed.. but Sarah Connor is a big deal to the franchise.

I’d still like to see one of these done as a one off horror movie.. just after the Nukes or maybe right before the Nukes when Skynet is 1st sending shit out to kill people, and before anyone has any real idea what’s going on. Doesn’t have to be a part of the main storyline, just a new group of people that encounter an early Termination that’s in ‘kill all humans’ mode.

Naw.. That's too smart. Would take a normal dude writing like a normal person. What do you think this is? 100 bc - 2007?? Haha.. Get with the times, we have progressed passed normal and good.

I mean, I'm behind as well, so I could write a movie about an Armageddon scenario, with some horror and suspense, and then have the twist at the end be that it's actually the terminator universe. Make and market the movie with zero notice that its the terminator universe. Have it revealed near the end, perhaps with some clues in the middle. Look at how excited people got at the end of split, and unbreakable and split were not really that great. Just ok.

But I'm out of touch for still liking cool stuff. I need to change. I need to forget that women achieved equality around 1990, and just force myself to understand that putting cool aside for an invented struggle is the way of it now.

It's sad when you look at the concepts that have been wasted the last 10 years. It's so sad that marvel movies have been some of the best.

We can't get dark and gritty, because gritty white guys are maybe sexist and/or racist. I mean, original Reese just couldn't have been "woke."

As a fan of the Marvel movies, I see what you're saying here.

I think Venom's success is part of that. People didn't care that it got trashed by the critics. This was Tom Hardy the guy who was built like a tank playing an MMA fighter and Bane.

I talked about this with many women and they seem to have a similar feeling about it.

One example, my sister, who has in the past always been politically very left but hasn't kept up with the news in the past 4 or 5 years and doesn't actually know about wokeness...she probably wouldn't know what "SJW" or "Mary Sue" mean...she isn't really aware the current political climate....but she said this recently about forced diversity in movies these days:

" I definitely remember complaining about that very same thing, like why is Rey so good haha. I guess there was something a bit patronizing about how she’s this badass female warrior bc she’s female so of course she’s badass. "

"I seem to recall some very cheesy moment near the end where they made an overly big deal of everyone honoring Rey above everyone else, and it seemed rather silly."

"I really missed the camaraderie the original Star Wars cast had, mainly i missed Han Solo."

Just realized Garret Dillahunt, “Cromartie” Name was also Johny Henry in the tv series.

Garret also plays a character named John in fear the walking dead, who was living completely alone in the woods.

Will we find out he was a bored terminator with no mission(his cpu was changed in the the John Henry form anyway so no terminator programming) and that’s what the helicopter and trash people were Loki g for?

I like the “old Arnie “ idea, especially if they have him play the human the terminator was modeled after as they say.

Would ad some interesting back story into the lore.

And for good scary terminators I think this one was one of the best for evil terminators

Dillahunt is on the very short list of the most underappreciated actors in the business.

He's a great actor. He almost singlehandedly turns the Last House on the Left remake into a must-see with his performance. Even with his small roles like Looper and No Country for Old Men, he takes small characters and goes above and beyond with the level of detail in his performance.

Junkie XL Reteaming with Director Tim Miller to Score TERMINATOR: DARK FATE

For Junkie XL, there is no fate but what we make for ourselves. Composer Tom Holkenborg, aka Junkie XL, will score Terminator: Dark Fate, the upcoming Terminator sequel that brings series creator James Cameron back as a producer for the first time since 1991's Terminator 2: Judgment Day.

The film is from director Tim Miller, who collaborated with Holkenborg on 2016's Deadpool. Terminator: Dark Fate opens Nov. 1.

"It's great to be working on another project with Tim," Holkenborg said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter. "The original Terminators were such iconic movies, and having James back as a producer with Tim directing is an amazing dream team. It's going to be a fantastic movie to be part of."

Holkenborg's scoring credits include Mad Max: Fury Road, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, The Dark Tower, the most recent Tomb Raider movie and Alita: Battle Angel.

Terminator: Dark Fate, from Paramount and Skydance, is the first Terminator film to feature original star Linda Hamilton as Sarah Connor since T2. Arnold Schwarzenegger is also back, with series newcomers including Natalia Reyes and Mackenzie Davis.

For Holkenborg fans in the Los Angeles area, the Terminator news comes as he prepares to make a public appearance March 29 at Synthplex, a festival described as celebrating all things synthesizer.

What about Brad Fiedel?!?!

He's retired and I bet Genisys scared the shit out of him when it comes to being involved with the franchise again.

His scores for the first two movies were master works though.

I might just include Alien 3 and Predator 2, patchier maybe but I think the idea behind them was decent enough even if the former contradicted Aliens intent a good deal. After that point though I think the problem all the franchises have is that they get lost in their own lore, plots end up far too convoluted playing to geekish tendency's that prevents any decent story being told.

If they carry on any of these franchises I think they'd be far better off rebooting/remaking the originals, get in a quality director/cast and get back to a slim focused story.

I agree that Predator 2 is all right, and Alien 3 I suppose, but I personally wouldn't be that interested in seeing the masterpieces of James Cameron and Ridley Scott redone with 2019 filmmaking sensibilities.
