Indie TERMINATOR 2D: No Fate (Multiplatform) **Halloween 2025

I'm always down for shorter games but less than 2 hours is way to short. At least give me 8-9.

Confused as to how people are shocked about the game length. Do people not know what genre this game is and how long those games were that inspired it? I’ve always expected this game length because the whole point is to master each level so you can chase high scores like every other run n gun and beat em up. Iron Meat from last year was absolutely awesome and could also be beaten in an hour.

Even at $30, that's way too much for a 1 hour game. I'll wait for a sale. If I can find it for ~$15 that'll seem about fair for what we're getting.

Damn. I was really hoping this would be more like 3-4 hours.

If they had the rights to T2 I wonder why they didn't make a full blown AAA-level Unreal Engine 5 single player story game based on T2? That would have been a dream come true. Instead they make a super basic side scroller. Ugh. I'll just youtube it.

For those who don't want to watch a playthrough and have everything spoiled this is probably the only review you should watch.

For those who have issues with the length... I hear you.
Was really hoping this would be 3-4 hours long but whenever I play it I'll probably play it on the highest difficulty.

And I have a bizarre reason for not buying this now... I own a SeriesX, and the XBox Controller's D-Pad is atrocious.

Will be waiting until I see a used PS5pro on deep discount... Or if it's downloadable on the PS6 when it's out in a few years.

43 minutes for the main story (not including the alternate paths) is downright appalling. How does that even qualify as a game?? It's like one of those cheap mobile "games" for your phone that you can beat over lunch break.

I mean, look at games like Mega Man which take 2-3 hours to beat and that's if you're good. (Could be 2-3-4x that long if you're not)

I watched the video and the game looks fun. But my God is it way too short. I saw a few instances where they could have added entire other levels but just sort of glossed over it.
<{hughesimpress}>

I'll still buy it, but it'll have to be used (or on a steep discount) for like $10-15 bucks. And even $15 feels a bit much for what we're getting.

Thoughts on the ending:

The final boss is the "T-999999" during a future war level as adult John Connor. WTF?? How could they blow such a massive opportunity to bring back the T-1,000,000 from T2:3D??? This was the literal perfect time to use it and they totally forgot about it. Dammit!

T2:3D is the Universal Studios theme park attraction that's no longer around. It's a similar premise to the final mission where they infiltrate skynet in the future to destroy the core. In the attraction, the core is protected by the T-1,000,000 (a spider shaped Kaiju sized T-1000). The attraction was written and directed by James Cameron so it's the only true post-T2 canon we have (not the bullshit fanfic of T3-Dark Fart). How could they not pull from that or call back to it?!?!

Absolute perfect opportunity was missed.

Based on this review, i'll def pick it up at some point.

The game is an hour long? The only thing that could save that, is if it was like an NES game that is stupidly difficult and gave you 3 lives and no save points. Most games of this kind back in the day were probably the same length on a straight run, but you had to really earn those post game credits, and there was no "easy" mode to blast through them.

Ultimately, that price tag is just ridiculous for a game with a length shorter than most demos.

This.

A lot of the old NES era stuff was in fact, 1-2 hour long games if you ran them perfectly. Trouble was, they were hard as nails and it took weeks, if not months to learn how to beat the game first. Eventually you got good enough to beat the game in that short time.

Just wanted to say, this game is incredible. lol at complaining about the price. There’s a good amount of replayability and challenge at the higher difficulties. The care that went into this is evident from the start. Only wish is that they were able to get Arnie, guess he was too pricey.

The video's main draw is the gameplay clips.

I wouldn't consider this YouTube channel trustworthy because their videos are more like "Things The Game's Developers Want You To Know" to convince you to buy it. Not saying they're lying but they're not an unbiased source. This video shouldn't be considered a review, but a marketing tool.

I'm going to wait for trustworthy reviews, as always, but especially for this title because there's been several delays including one that happened the week it was supposed to be released.

That said, if everything in the video is legit... This is going to be an awesome game.
Played it on a friend's switch on normal and beat the game in 86 mins

It's a very polished 2D platformer with great visuals and nods to the fans. It plays a little like Contra meets Metal Slug. But it is in no way worth 50 bucks. It's a novelty purchase. If you have the money for that, then go nuts.

The lack of Arnie likeness doesn't bother as much as the fact you barely play as the T-800

I ended up playing it at a friends house. The game is fun. The only real negative is the runtime. And there were at least two spots where there absolutely should have been an additional level but the game just skips over it. But if we overlook the length and the skipped levels, it's a solid side scroller.

I would love to have a game like this for Die Hard. Imagine running around the building. You could work your way through 20 levels making your way to the top floor for the big showdown.

Do something like this for Aliens, Lethal Weapon, Beverly Hills Cop, Predator, First Blood, Conan the Barbarian, Home Alone (yes Home Alone), etc. It's limitless.

Btw, this game was WAAAAAY better than the RetroRealms 2D Halloween game.

That is a great idea... I'm actually surprised it hasn't been done

Fucking loved that attraction. Checked it Out when my high school senior spring break group got stranded in FL...

Highly recommend Neon Inferno to you guys who enjoy this genre. Just released a month ago and I had a lot of fun with it. The crowd who hates short games should stay clear though lol. It’s also about an hour long but it is significantly cheaper so there’s that at least
