Teminator vs Terminator 2 - Alien vs Aliens

T2> T1 but just barely. Michael Biehn as Kyle Reese is one of my favorite characters ever.

There's really no need to argue. T1 and T2 are both excellent, they're just in different genres. Same as alien and aliens.

Both sequels are great because while they went in a more action oriented direction, they still kept some of the horror elements. The marines getting picked off one by one, and ultimately being as helpless as the crew in the first movie, even though they had advanced weaponry.

The T1000 is chilling in its ability to replicate anyone, making it the perfect assassin. Like in the thing, you have to be auspicious of anyone you lose sight of. Even though they have a terminator on their side, the t1000 is far superior, so they keep that atmosphere of always being on the run.

It comes down to if you prefer sci fi, horror, or a mix of both. Predator is another movie that does a great job of blending genres

A dude getting a shotgun blast as arnolld walked through a police station? omg what B grade 80's movie had that in it???

Like every single one.

What I posted was violent yet entertaining effects of violence. Shit like Arnold gouging his damaged eyeball out on his manikin head.

But this sailed over you because you wanted to talk about actual numbers. While I was talking about actual violence...UNIQUE violence.

Watching the T1000 explode from the inside out is unique. Doesn't matter that it's a robot, it was fucking amazing to see.

Terminator 1 doesn't have anything remotely close to this...it's both interesting and horrific because it's a humanoid body twisted and convulsed into that weird...thing.

Closest movie that comes to this I guess would be The Thing.

In the dream flash back sequence you have woman and children getting "a bombed" and blown apart...That's far more entertaining than watching someone get shot with a shotgun and fly through a pain of glass...

You had no argument when you started. You have two scenes that stick out to me...Arnold punching a hole in that punks stomach, and him gouging his eye out.

That's it. That's all that's unique and violent. The rest is just a body count. So if you wanna talk numbers. I have the fucking A bomb...

Bitch.

Again, my arguemnt is that arnold is a pussy in t2 getting bossed around by a little bitch boy. That is my argument. You have done nothing to argue against it. I am ignoring you now because I will never give a single fuck about anything you say or your opinion. We are done here.

Alien 1 and 2 are completely different films. Alien 1 is a psychological, sci fri horror movie. Aliens is a suspense/thriller action movie. I don't think they are really comparable, although they work very well as a pair, which is strange and awesome.

T1 and T2 are similar to A1 and A2 in that respect

I prefer 2 in both cases.

Spoken like a true little bitch boy

You'd think this was a thread about how to divide up Jerusalem.

I think someone else already said it, but it's true. The Terminator and T2 are the only real Terminator films. Everything else is shitty fanfic. But I think this also applies to the Alien franchise. It's Alien and Aliens. All else is garbage and inconsequential. (Though Alien Isolation gets a pass because that was amazing!)

You made a lot of great points in your post, but this jumped out at me. While T2 definitely is more of an action movie I wouldn't go so far as to say it forgot about horror. There were definitely some scenes in it that I found unnerving, especially as a kid.

...

T1000 killing John Connor's stepfather by stabbing him through the mouth (and a milk carton)

T1000 stabbing the police officer in the mental institution through the eye, causing him to spill his coffee.

T1000 chasing Arnold and company through the institution's halls...then passing right through a closed gate like it was nothing.

The elevator scene with T1000 stabbing down through the roof.

The foundry scene where T1000 assumes Sarah Connor's appearance and tries to lure John to her/it.

The death scene with T1000 assuming the appearance of its past victims.

...

It's definitely no horror masterpiece like the original, but T2 definitely had its scary moments.

Also, especially when I was younger, the nightmare sequence was scary as hell. I remember as a kid that I didn't even like to watch it because it bothered me so much. I would either fast forward that part or not even look because it was so horrifying. Even if I didn't look though, the sound of what was happening was so intense, I almost couldn't stand it. Even to this day, it's still shocking. I'd say it's more horrifying than anything that was in the first film. Truly an uncomfortable scene. (Cameron did an absolutely brilliant job bringing it to life - maybe too good).

I live in a world where the Terminator, Alien, Lethal Weapon, Die Hard and Beverly Hills Cop franchises all ended with the second film.

Biehn is actually a really good American actor but it seems he never got the recognition he deserved. He never overacts - a priceless quality in my eyes.

When he's on, he's awesome. But I've seen a good number of his lesser known films, and if he isn't in the hands of a very good director, he can deliver some iffy performances.

Since Indepence Day, we've all seen the world blow up a million times in a million movies, but James Cameron really brought something creative and horrific to the table with that scene at that time. Even he found it a bit scarring to put together and film.

bill paxton is the only actor to be killed by the big 3 in horror scfi films.

Fair enough. The ones I have seen though, probably only a handful, he really shines in each of them and I feel like I know the guy, LOL. He reacts like a bad-ass guy would - no more, no less. When I watch a film, I like to "be" there, if you know what I mean. Tommy Lee Jones is another great American actor, in my opinion. Never overstates, never understates. He's just there...raw and in the moment.

Sadly, they will probably make enough horrible sequels in all three franchises that the list will become quite long.

If his resume were limited to T1, Aliens, The Abyss, The Rock and Tombstone, he would be the John Cazale of action films.
