of course he did...he barely even tried...it was sort of funny to watch all these people watching with bated breath as if that outcome was in question. I felt like I was in the movie idiocracy!

Lol no he didn't. He threw less punches in 3 combined rounds than he averaged in 1 for his career. And Floyd never had covered up and just walked forward before that fight.

Been teddy for as long as I can recall. I've kind of lost track of Roach to be honest, not sure he's still in the game or not.

Not that it matters though because Floyd has always been like that. He stays up all night then sleeps all day so he is peaking around 9pm which is when the majority of his fights start.

That's just Floyd.

I think for myself first and foremost. So, no.

Drawing upon the opinions of the greats and elite of any particular craft is just a powerful affirmation. Something that should be done, regardless of the topic.

It also adds to the argument that there are flaws in the "Floyd carried Conor" narrative perpetuated by 90% of fans. It's understandable some might feel this way but it's far from absolute.

Some seem so utterly certain and convinced of this, they're unwilling to accept anything, regardless of who it comes from. Certainly some extreme stubbornness at play here.

My thought is that those who fall into this line of thinking, aren't really looking too far past the surface. Where as the more knowledgeable minds are far more layered, all encompassing and big picture driven in their approach to analysis.

Not only that but many who fall into that 90% category, like yourself, seem to be completely driven by your dislike of the leprechaun. Which has spawned a profound stubbornness and deeply rooted confirmation bias.

Even if you have knowledge, wisdom and tangible experience, it's the bias that will lead you away from truth. A wise man once said, convictions are greater enemies of truth than lies.

Those at the elite level are far more capable of giving their opinion impartially and objectively with no real dog in the fight. Something only a small percentage of fans seem capable of doing in the more polarizing topics.

Most people seem to believe "Conor was winning bust lost because he gassed out".

It was clear Floyd was never in any danger at all and not concerned about Conor's punches at all. He could have let Conor not land any punches if he wanted to.

Your eyes deceive you. Just like so many others with some background.

As I've said, bias and our emotional reactions are what get us. Even when theres some knowledge there.

The dislike of Conor can be so strong that it overrides a great many faculties.

That being said, are we to believe that Floyd took 9 and a half whole rounds off, only to miraculously put his foot on the gas when Colin began to seriously gas out?

The first 8 rounds were competitive. The narrative that Floyd gave up the early rounds then dominated the rest of the fight actually isnt true.

There's a more logical conclusion than "Floyd carried him". He was old, he played it safe and dragged the fight into deeper waters. He utilized forward pressure as a means of keeping Conor constantly moving backwards and having to adjust his stance to throw an effective punch. This sort of constant movement, resetting and never really getting the chance to rest, settle and control your range will tire you out quicker.

Not only that but Conor's inside and middle striking range isn't great, which is a large reason he threw so many punches that just looked silly. All served a purpose of tiring Conor out, stifling his style, range and dragging the fight into deeper waters.

I believe myself first and foremost.

But a wise man uses every tool at their disposal to form the most well rounded picture possible.

The greatest competitors and minds in any particular craft are knowledge and wisdom that should be drawn from in the interest of attempting to conceive of the larger picture.


I would expect Floyd's camp to say that, not a surprise at all and I take it with a grain of salt. Obviously they were taking some heat at the time from the boxing community for giving anything up to an mma fighter and were looking to save face which is perfectly understandable. The actual fight tells a different tale however.

All that said, when your analysis is driven in stubborn confirmation bias, dislike and emotional reactions, your opinion is muddied and often misses the forest for the trees.

It doesnt matter who refutes it or their level of expertise, that handicap keeps people like you from seeing past your nose.

Floyd was on point with his defense the whole night my friend.

He was doing everything in his power to defend those shots from the beginning. He was still getting tagged. The jab In particular landed throughout the night to the point where even Sugar Ray Leonard stated, he was surprised Conor was so effective with his jab.

It's not as if he defended beautifully then a few seconds later got tagged and decided to go back to defend beautifully again. That's both testament to Conor's ability and also Floyd's age. First time that I can recall in a long time where his opponent actually had the reflex edge.

I dont care who it is. Floyd isn't someone to allow himself to get hit.

Conor was obviously not throwing with full power as a means of lasting to the later rounds. This was pretty obvious. From Floyd's perspective, you know there is a degree of power there and he can decide to burn a bit more energy on a punch at any time, that's not a risk you take.

Not at 40, not if you're Floyd and fighting someone with an unorthodox style. Doesnt matter If it's Conor.

Sometimes I wonder if you people know Floyd at all. The type of shit I hear suggested is just so far away from his character and style its absurd.

Yeah Floyd didn't want to get caught , he just played it safe . Conor is for sure a naturally bigger guy and super unorthodox for boxing
