Teddy Atlas: Floyd didn't carry Conor

Yes.

Floyd fought like Floyd always fights. Safe, defensive, counter punching. Conor is much bigger and longer, and likely much better than Floyd realized. After Conor started to gas Floyd took over, but that doesn’t negate some of the clean shots Conor landed in the first few rounds. Very few fighters have landed as clean on Floyd as Conor did, even if it seemed to have little effect. Watching him slip and rip Mayweather in rd. 1 was surreal.

I was sitting down super relaxed and after seeing the first round it got very interesting. Then Conor gassed and said to my self. “Ok it’s over”. Conor surprised the fuk outta me in the beginning rounds.

Floyd played one on the most ancient battle tactics there is: The Matador Versus The Bull.

And Conor, an experienced fighter himself fell for it.
Conor had no chance against Floyd no matter what Floyd did.

Show me another fight where floyd walked forward with a high guard letting his opponent tee off.

Show me another fight where floyd was laughing and mugging for the camera between rounds.

I'll wait . . . No I won't because it doesn't exist.

Floyd knew what he had in front of him and fought accordingly - put on a show, have fun then when he got sick of it turn up the tempo and stop the guy with no actual boxing experience except fairytale stories told by him.
Floyd walked pretty much everyone down when he was still pretty boy. Hell even later in his career he still did if he knew he could put someone away. It's something he regularly does in later rounds when he's dominating the fight

Lol Conor hits like a girl compared to real pro boxers. You ppl are delusional

As far as boxing at this level goes he carried him.
The entire gameplan was to allow the bigger less experienced man to tire and then take him out like shooting fish in a barrel. I think it’s safe to say that the objective was achieved with very little resistance.

Perhaps you should listen to the interview as Teddy addresses what you just said about Floyd walking forward.

Its' a very simple and straightforward breakdown by Teddy that makes sense. There are other reasons that other boxing people said why it took so long to take Conor out, but these are the main reasons. For a 0-0 fighter, Conor did very well in that fight. The expectations were also lower considering it was his first boxing fight, so his performance gets more praise then a guy who's been boxing a long time and has 20+ fights.

Floyd obviously had a semblance of respect for Conor’s ability early. The ones arguing that Floyd could’ve turned it up from the first minute and ko him quick are idiotic, that’s not how boxing another trained fighter works, even with that experience discrepancy. The uppercut early was proof enough of that, was that Floyd carrying him there too?

In the end, it doesn’t matter. Floyd did what he should have, and Conor did the best with what he had. You just prove you’re bias if you hate on this whole situation.

Did Floyd even throw a punch in the first two rounds?

He averaged 5 a round for the first 5 rounds...

That's the lowest output of his entire career.

Of course he carried McGregor. It was his promotion and they were charging 100 bucks for the PPV. He had to make the fantastic fiction that Conor was a credible boxer look at least vaguely real for a few rounds.

Once Mayweather felt they got enough mileage on the story he started throwing and then it was over.

Floyd did not fight like he always does, thats absurd.

Anyone who thinks Floyd carried Conor or Israel carried Anderson is a fucking idiot. This isn't Dragonball Z.

Yeah, he did that because he knew McGregor was blown up and had nothing left. Diaz did it to Conor twice, they knew he had no power anymore and that taunting him would get in his head. Doesn't mean he "carried" him.

LOL, Teddy already going hard at it. If and when Manny and conor box I won't be shocked if Teddy pushes hard to train conor.

and mcgregor fans will eat it up and buy the over prices PPV - "teddy said that floyd didn't carry conor. went 10 rds with an all time great" "with actual boxing training no one will be able to take that right hand"
