I think Paul Dano is one of the best actors that are under 45 years old.

Not sure why Quintin is so critical with him. His voice may get annoying sometimes, but he's a solid actor. I wonder if they have history or something in those regards.

Watching him act next to Daniel Day Lewis was like in devils advocate when Pacino had to share scenes with Keanu and his pathetic attempt at a southern accent.

Dano is even worse in that Batman movie. That movie has several flaws but Dano was one of the biggest ones. Just awful.

Dano is limited in range but decent within that range. Personally I thought his character in the new Batman was poorly written and that the film overall was average at best. Penguin was the only real standout.


Same goes for Owen Wilson -limited range but he’s good when the role is right. ‘Bottle Rocket’ is a great example of him shining in a role.


Lillard I guess I’d say the same but.. he’s fantastic in ‘Scream’ and ‘SLC Punk’.. both are great examples of the casting matching the character.

I like Dano. I think he’s done solid work in multiple good to great movies. Yes DDL towers over everyone else in TWBB but there’s no shame in that.

I can understand that some might not like Paul’s work. But I think that Tarantino, a guy of such stature really tearing into the dude to that extent is rough. Like you can say you don’t care for a performance and you think it brings the movie down but when you call someone the weakest guy in SAG, that sort of hyperbole, you know, hurts.

Plus what’s he have against Matt Lillard..

He's just one of those polarizing actors, that has garnered what some believe is unwarranted praise. To me, he seems like a Michael Cera type guy. One note, but falls on his face when he steps out of his comfort zone. Only difference is that Hollywood hasn't tried to make him a leading man that really exposed that weakness. He's been smart in not overreaching too far, and not having movies depend on his presence alone. That's what killed Cera's appeal.

I doubt QT thinks too much about it, but he was asked a question and he answered it...bluntly. I mean, us normies all have favorite actors and actors who we think are shit. Now imagine what a Hollywood Director may think of some of these folks. They're a bit more naturally passionate than any one of us could be.
