Tank Abbott Fans, get in here!

Not my intention to dispute anything you've said, but I'm always amazed at how poorly he did against Kimbo. I wonder if he was that far off his prime at that time or if the competition really stepped up that much even in the case of Kimbo.[/QUOT

In a recent interview, Tank admitted to being an alcoholic for many years, which is why he needed both a liver replacement and a kidney replacement. The man was in very, very poor health for several years. So, it seems reasonable to assume that he was already pretty degraded physically by the time he fought Kimbo. Plus, when you combine his poor health with his suspect training and dietary habits, then it’s sort of easy to see why he looked like utter crap against Kimbo.
But at the time, I was expecting Tank to roll all over Slice. I was amazed that he fell apart so easily. But now that I know about his health, it’s easier to understand why.

Side note: cool picture of Tank Abbott and Clint Eastwood circulating on the net. The two had a picture taken together recently. And it’s very apparent from their photo that old Clint has lost several inches in height — which is to be expected from a 90 year old. But it’s strange seeing the 6’3” Clint looking so shriveled and shrunken nowadays.

Ppl forget Tank was a second away from winning a decision against Arlovski before the last second head kick. Andrei got his soul taken by Fedor and wasn't the same after despite still racking up wins

You sure you're not thinking of Travis Fulton?
(who got caught with CP a few weeks ago)

I wish the fight with him and big John would’ve happened. The pat smith story is fucked up, even though Smith is a POS

I'm not a fan of Tank at all but I'm in here anyways.

For the record, he was strong, his wrestling sucked, his punching power was undeniable, his cardio varied wildly but was generally trash, he was slow, his chin was decent but unremarkable, and his submission grappling was weak. He threw punches like a grizzly throws his paws around. He beat no one of any consequence and his biggest claims to fame and legitimacy is giving Oleg a long fight and Don Frye a tough 45 seconds. He gave us some great-looking KO's against limited fighters but always came up well short when put in there with good fighters, never mind great.

He was fun but in no way, shape, or form did he have it all. Not even close.
Remember Oleg cheated

These two actually had a 'shoot', it was when Tank attended a show in the audience before they signed him on as a pro wrestler and Steiner was asked to confront him, it turned into a real exchange, with Rick Steiner clipping Tank and wobbling him a bit.

Both Steiner brothers were legit tough guys and all American wrestling champs so would have given Tank a run for his money in MMA.

That was completely fake...if Steiner “clipped” Tank, it was on accident.

Also, Tank kinda looks like Jim “the Anvil”

I do. The only way Tank would ever have beaten Oleg is via the Harold Howard/Royce Gracie route... which was entirely possible given the old-school tourney format. Yeah, that work really cheapened Taktarov's victory. Of course, Oleg really wasn't that great himself.

Tank was fun to watch
Ya. He was very exciting to a few minutes. After that, time to tune out. Also, seemed like a total asshole. All in all, definitely an OG. He’s what I remember most about the old days.

Bruh, you've been a fan since 2011, don't tell me this is the first time you saw Tank KO a terrible fighter!
2009 actually haha and no, not the first time but I never got too invested. Haven't watched all of his fights and this one I'm pretty sure I have but it's been a long time since so my memory is, you know...
