Tank Abbott Fans, get in here!

I think if you asked Tank, he'd say he's still in his prime...lol. He was the man back in the day but he strikes me as a little delusional these days.

I don’t watch many interviews and the the last one I watched had to have been 5 years ago or so and it sounded like the couch he was sitting on in his home was covered in plastic and was crunching the whole time. Big leather coat. White hair and bear. Really crunchy.

all former tough guys or even great athletes are delusional in older age.

shit I think I could contribute to an nba team. But in reality I can barely play a half court game anymore and would be dead going up and down the court twice.

but if I camped down in the post or the top of the key. I could do a lot of damage.

if you haven't read this period defining novel than you can't call yourself a fan of Tank.

I think Tank haters take the wrong view of this guy. In his time he wasn't an incomplete fighter. There were few actual MMA fighters as we know them now. He wasn't great in his time in terms of achievements but he was great in terms of entertainment value. Plus some of the best highlight KO's in UFC history.

That's why he is among my favorites.

You realize he was fully aware of the toupee.. tank dont give a fuck

Wait, are you saying its a toupee? Serious, the GOAT hairline thing was the only redeeming part of this thread, but you're telling me he had a dead cat sutured to his dome?

Not my intention to dispute anything you've said, but I'm always amazed at how poorly he did against Kimbo. I wonder if he was that far off his prime at that time or if the competition really stepped up that much even in the case of Kimbo.

Consider the fact that he needed a liver transplant not that long ago. The man has not exactly taken care of himself.

Maybe some of the older members remember back in the day there was an account IIRC the username was @thunderbolt88, his very first post was a thread making a very positive review of Tank Abbott’s newly released self written book entitled:

“Bar Brawler” Befor There Were Rules
View attachment 822407

As you can imagine the thread quickly turned into a 10 page shit show of people bashing the book, I actually purchased and attempted to read the book, I made it about 30 pages through before giving up...LoL, it was a very poorly spent $12.

It quickly became evident that @thunderbolt88 was in fact Tank himself, he was simply trying to plug his own book, for a while he was engaged in dialogue with nearly everyone who posted anything negatively in regards to his book, but he couldn’t keep up with mass trashing of his book. He was valiantly white knighting his own literary genius and kept the thread going a while, it kinda took on a life of its own. Eventually, he decided drinking and Sherdogging was a good idea, it was that obvious in the turn of his tone... His posts became increasingly belligerent and he began threatening the other members, he eventually was banned... I’m guessing the thread still exists and will look for it, it was hilariously entertaining and totally obvious who was pushing the review.

I do miss the good old days of Sherdog when fighters would periodically post here, even under troll accounts like Tank Abbott and Mike Dolce, get banned and we’d collectively laugh at them...

I just bought the book. Thanks.

You forgot to mention his post-fight interviews and fight commentary as well. They were very, colorful

The man had no respect for anyone, "not even you".

"I bet Telligman wishes he had another pectoral muscle right now"
Haha, I remember that. That was just about the time they cut him off.

Did anyone every find this thread? Sounds amazing

Tank's level of assholishness was so high it went around the corner and came back again as a virtue.

Its almost unbelievable how much of a dick he was. It didnt matter that his "prime" was so short lived, you just wanted to see that guy throw down.

It's been deleted a while ago... like, years ago IIRC

What really rustles my jimmies is that the thread in which Michael Bisping and Cyrille "Da Snake" Diabaté kept fighting on Sherdog, after their kickboxing bout was over, got deleted from the Sherdog just a few months ago.
At least the "Tank got drunk and got banned" was deleted years ago, we have had time to process that loss...

But Da Snake vs The Count was a Sherdog classic like Jason DeLucia vs Bas Rutten feat. Bas' lil sister, and it got deleted for no apparent reason :(
Fighter bashing maybe?

Ppl forget Tank was a second away from winning a decision against Arlovski before the last second head kick. Andrei got his soul taken by Fedor and wasn't the same after despite still racking up wins

I’ve done lots of searches, I even actually sat and scrolled through years of my content, never found the thread... Im assuming older content deemed unnecessary gets deleted, It’s unfortunate, because the thread was so hilarious, in my minds eye I could see Thunderbolt88’s (Tank) in front of the computer trying to stay unassuming and incognito when pushing the book. Meanwhile the people who read it were ripping his writing, the storyline, and basically the way he portrayed the character who was obviously a pseudonym of himself. He was able to play it cool, then one night he had hit his limit of abuse, broke down, most likely became belligerently drunk and orchestrated account suicide by having a real-time meltdown...lol.
