75 Minute Skill Session (Bag Work, Shadow Boxing)

Wednesday, Sep. 9th - Tuesday, Sep. 16th

Unfortunately, had to head out for a work trip that got in the way of my training plans for the 10/2 card. I did get some runs and shadow boxing in. Got one really hard day in at Sand Dune Park in Manhatten Beach. Also got to meet the 130 pound women's WBA champion, Kina Malpartida (Kina Malpartida) at the park.

She was absolutely CHARGING up some of the most intense set of stairs in California. I was dying next to her.

Dude Kina Malpartida is a beast. That aside...Kick ass!!! My fight is Oct. 10th. Let's do this man!!

P.S. - We has it!!!

A2! Kina IS a beast. She introduced herself and I didnt recognize the name. Then I looked her up and she's a world champion. Ill tell you what, she was killing the conditioning and she was is still 3 months out from her fight. That poor girl she's fighting...

Yes, we does has it! Lets go to work!

Wednesday, September 16th

Need to live and breathe boxing for the next 17 days. Pretty short amount of time to prepare for a fight, but I am in decent shape, and with some focus and dedication, I will be ready to go.

Morning Workout

3 Mile Run
10 minutes Shadow Boxing
Calisthenics (core, pull-ups, push-ups)
Stretch

Evening Workout (445-800)

Stretch: 5-10m
Jump Rope: 10m
Stretch/Further Loosening Up: 10m
Shadow Boxing: 15 x 3m Rounds
Movement Mirror Drills: 2 x 3m Rounds
Rope Drills: 3 x 3m Rounds
Sparring: 10 x 2m Rounds
Stretch: 5m

Notes:
My coach is obviously not of the ease you back into shape camp. First day back and I get 10 rounds of sparring in, which, if I think about it, is exactly what I need. I don't have a whole lot of time to waste here, so good to get back to business. Sparred a total of 5 different people, so got a lot of different looks. Rear hand uppercut was landing well, and so was a 1-3-2 combo that kept landing. Body work was all right too. Main problem was that I was unable to keep up the intensity throughout the session. Wind isnt terrible, but needs improving. Oh, by the way, I am 166 this morning, so need to lose 6 pounds before the 10/2 weigh-ins.

Thursday, September 17th

Sore everywhere.

Morning Workout

20m Run
10m Shadow Boxing

Evening Workout

Stretch: 10m
Jump Rope: 10m
Shadow Boxing: 5 x 3m Rounds
Situational Sparring: 4 x 3m Rounds
Sparring: 3 x 2m Rounds
Medicine Ball Partner Drills/Calisthenics: 10m

Notes: Sparring went well. Wind isn't terrible. I get tired, but not so much that it keeps me from putting work in throughout the round at a high pace and good volume. Was landing a lot of very clean punches last night. Accuracy is getting better, and the uppercuts are finding a home consistently.

Friday, September 18th

Evening Workout

Warm-Up/Stretch: 10m
Jump Rope: 10m
Shadow Boxing: 5 x 3m Rounds
Sparring: 8 x 2m Rounds
Speed Bag: 2 x 2m Rounds
Shadow Boxing: 2 x 3m Rounds

Notes: Lots of looks and rounds today. Learned a new trick in stepping around the guy on the inside. Didnt get to try it much in sparring, but I worked on it a bunch afterwards.

Saturday, September, 19th

Jump Rope: 5-10m
Shadow Boxing: 5-10m
Sparring: 5 x 2m Rounds

Notes: Sparring took place at another gym in the city and got some good work with a few friends who train under the same coach. Got to work on my step and pivot around my opponent on the inside and it worked really well. Body/head combos are coming together and I am really happy with my inside work. Nice little Saturday before Mayweather vs. Marquez.

Sunday, September 20th

Active Rest: 2 games of kickball in Golden Gate Park

Monday, September 21st

Morning Workout

SEAL Chin/Push-Up Circuit 7 x 7
Plank: 1m Finisher

Evening Workout

Jump Rope: 8m
Rope Drills: 2 x 3m Rounds
Sparring: 9 x 2m Rounds
Neck Conditioning, Med. Ball Drills, Partner Conditioning: 20m

Notes: Felt a bit slow and "off" today. Might just be a Monday, or might just be a bit over-worked.

Tuesday, September 22nd

3 Mile Run

Evening

Jump Rope: 8m
Heavy Bag: 3 x 3m Rounds
DE Bag: 3 x 3m Rounds
Speed Bag: 3 x 3m Rounds

Notes: Got there a bit late, so had to train on my own today. Was actually kind of nice, since it was my first day of training without sparring in 5-6 days or so. Got a good sweat going, but this was a pretty easy day.

Is the legnth of the round determined by you or a big timer in the gym? If it's just you are you looking for a professional fight?
