Hey guys, I recently bought tactical barbell on the kindle. I'm sure many of you guys can give a better and more detailed review of this or different programs.

I'm normally against paying for workout programs when there is millions of free info online, but TB not only has several programs/ templates to use but also a book that really breaks down the what why and how your body works and the best ways to progress.
So for 8 dollars I really recommend it.
It's a very fexible , progressive and useful program. Especially useful if you are in sports. Where you don't have all day to lift. And instead must find time for running, cardio ,boxing ,grappling, etc.

We're pretty well aware of it, but 8$ is a steal for it. Good luck with it.

What makes it tactical? Do you do all exercises wearing kevlar with a pistol on a drop holster?

I agree with your review Odene, it's the best lifting program I've used as a boxer. I'll add that if anyone's interested in reading it...make sure you get the 2nd edition.

Regarding the "tactical", you should read it before jumping to conclusions. I normally stay away from anything with 'tactical', 'functional' or 'commando' in the title... TB is a different beast.

The basic premise behind the 'tactical' is this....:

-progressive barbell trg is the best way to increase max strength (vs push-ups, crawling in the mud, or running with logs as is commonly associated with military fitness)

-military, swat, operators, need max strength like any other athlete

-existing power-lifter or bb'er based barbell programs aren't always the best fit for cross-training military style athletes

-TB gives these crosstraining tactical types a strength model that fits in with that particular training style that is also very flexible

- It so happens that a lot of non-army athletes have the same needs/cross-training lifestyle

For example I ran it last year with Ross Enamait's 50 day II plan. Not my first time... love the 50 day plan, but the strength sessions weren't progressive/periodized. So for the two II strength sessions I substituted the 2 day TB fighter template. Got the best of both worlds....strength increased significantly as did conditioning.

When I was more active in boxing in past...I made the mistake of trying to run Texas method, and it was a disaster. I spent way too much time on the weights, and max strength ain't that high on a fighter's list of priorities. TB gives me the flex to fit in the right amount of strength trg.

I like programsime tactics iCal barbell and 531 because they are super flexible. Right now, TB is working really well for me because I'm really focusing on running and kettlebell stuff but with The TB templates, I'm still able to lift without trashing myself too much and hurting my running.

We have a saying in the industry about wanting to sell something to gun and self defense types: "paint it black and call it tactical".

Although recently earth brown is the new black.

Matt Best is the man! Best gun and comedy channel on youtube (home of the bikini snap). Dynamic Pie is great too.

You forgot add like $500 to the price too. When I sold guns before getting into the PD that was our running joke too. Add a bunch of accessories, matte black finish and tactical label and you bump the price and the keyboard warriors will snap it up.

I have seen tactical forks , etc. All insanely overpriced

Shit jrt. Grey is the new black this year in the gun world. Fde is solo last year. Grey ar15s, glocks...

I just changed the furniture on my two AR's to dark earth and I'm not changing again.

When I'm teaching or attending a shooting school I'm typically the only guy there not wearing cargo pants (although I still like cargo shorts mainly because the pockets hold my phone).

My new fab tactic-cool pants http://www.kuhl.com/

I'm guilty of that, I have a pair of 5.11 pants I wore at a bunch of defensive shooting classes, 3 gun and thunder ranch courses.

Also, what ar15s do you have? I ah e a few Daniel defense, a few bravo co and a colt.

The better question is what do I get to T&E. Shoot them, break them, then turn it back in for another. Today I'm rocking the new polymer lower by Robar
