It's not the worst game in the world and there are many people who like it, but I think as a sequel it sucked.
1. No little Mac or Doc - this was the biggest glaring omission to me. Nintendo owned the characters and people loved them so there was no reason to switch to some generic boxer as the main guy. I loved seeing little Mac fight dudes so much bigger that he has to literally jump to hit them in the face.
2. The game was designed to look and feel more like the old arcade punch out than the NES game. That was a stupid decision. The arcade game was ok but the NES game is one of the most beloved games of all time. Why remove all the charm and personality and take it back to the more generic feeling of the arcade game?
3. The music sucked.
4. There's something else, I can't put my finger on it but for some reason it's just missing some "fun" factor. To this day I can play the NES version and have a blast but the SNES game i never even bothered to beat it. Not because it was too hard but I just got bored of it.
