dumb things will be overlooked with a solid movie. I tore apart godfather awhile back just to do it. A movie is supposed to capture you. if you have time to pick it apart then it failed to keep your attention
so there is no need for mental gymnastic of alot of marvel fanboy on how DC movies "doesn't make sense" while the truth is, they just didn't found it enjoyable for them.
Sim:
Margot Robbie's inability to have a consistent accent was distracting. She ranged from the proper NYC accent, to the generic 'Murican Midwest neutral, to some Aussie. Aside from that, she was great. Her and Will Smith were easily the best parts about the movie.
Smith's solo moments in the action were awesome. The discount shooting range and jumping up on the car to take out a bunch of goons were great.
Viola Davis was perfect as Waller. She was practically her character from How to Get Away With Murder, which wasn't a bad thing. My only issue was her so so reasoning for killing all of those FBI agents or whoever.
Não:
Diablo was sorta awesome, but like DLX, I wasn't feeling the "you're my family now" bullshit. Actually, now that I think about it, his reasoning for finally starting to heat shit up was flimsy as well. Will Smith's Peter Jackson impression is all that's necessary? GTFO....
Jai Courtney needs to go somewhere. How the hell does he keep getting these big roles? He's gotta have some dirt on a big Hollywood guy, like pics of a director with his dick out or something.
Rick Flagg's romance with Enchantress' host wasn't even forced. It was practically nonexistent. I felt more chemistry coming from the not-banging Deadshot and Harley.
The main baddies were also ho hum. "They worship machines so now lets kill them all" was zzz's. Enchantress' bro was kinda cool, but was meh after you realize he's basically Generic Badguy #43 with more CGI. Enchantress herself was cool at first too, but then the generic Bright CGI Kill Them All Machine was generic. Also, all of that fucking gyrating. So distracting. It took away from anything resembling a sense of danger.
All in all, I give this a solid 1 on my binary system. I consider it on the level of some of the worst MCU movies, wherein it's not a much watch by any means, but if you do watch it, you will be entertained.
This movie started out better than it finished, sadly.
If a hero goes rogue? That was Wallers entire reason for building the team in the movie.
But they can't contend with any major villain of a meta human either, any Supes villain, any Flash villain with speed like Zoom or Reverse Flash, etc... would wreck them.
They need to focus more on SS taking on human baddies.

I actually think the SS idea is pretty smart since all the DC heroes are so overpowered, by making some of the less powerful villains heroes, you can have some movies that are actually interesting instead of just Superman flying around being boring and invincible.

I don't disagree at all, they just need to make sure their villains aren't very powerful. Even Enchantress shouldve owned their asses, she was way more powerful and if she wanted she coulkdve teleported around and broke their necks.
But the SS against human villains in ops that the US can't sanction? That works perfectly.
SUICIDE SQUAD Wins Third Straight Weekend at the Box Office with $20.7 Million
Warner Bros. and DC Films’ Suicide Squad has been crowned king the box office for the third weekend in a row.
Suicide Squad brought in $20.7 million in its third weekend in theaters. That’s a 52 percent drop from last weekend, which rivals the 54.5 percent drop Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice suffered in its third weekend. These weekend-to-weekend drops will likely feed the narrative that the movies of the DC Extended Universe can’t sustain at the box office, particularly after Suicide Squad’s significant second-weekend decline. Suicide Squad's overall domestic box office total is expected to come to about $262 million by the time Sunday’s sales are tallied up.
Other superhero movies have also suffered second-to-third weekend drops of more than 50 percent, including 2016’s Captain America: Civil War and X-Men: Apocalypse, and 2015’s Avengers: Age of Ultron and Fantastic Four. However, most of those films didn’t suffer first to second-weekend drops as steep as the one Suicide Squad suffered.
Suicide Squad opened to record-breaking numbers, becoming the largest Thursday night showing in August and the biggest August opening weekend of all time. Currently, the film is the third highest grossing film in August ever and seems likely to top The Sixth Sense ($293 million) when the final numbers are tallied. However, it is unlikely to be able to top current August champion Guardians of the Galaxy ($333 million).
Woohoo! "Split the difference" works again! (guessed $21.6mil)
For some quick context, the median weekend three drop is -49.7%, with Skwad doing a preliminary -52.4%. This is a lot better than last weekend where the median is -59.4% and Skwad did -67.4%.
Extrapolating for a domestic total gives $303.6mil, and last week's gave $301mil. So looks like it should sit right around the $300mil mark domestic, and probably about $660mil worldwide.

i voted decent but very well could have voted poor. all and all it was just not a good movie, a few stand out scenes and performances but as a whole it was a mess, and the design choices for most of the characters are some of the worst ever in any comic book movie ever made.
690 seems too high to me. I don't think there are any major markets left to open so the current D:F ratio shouldn't change a whole lot from here on out. And to do 690 there'd have to be a comparatively large uptick in overseas performance vs domestic performance.
EDIT: Looked it up and Japan and Greece are the only ones left to open. Greece is small potatoes and this doesn't seem like the sort of movie to do big business in Japan.

Just got back. Quite possibly the worst superhero movie i've seen. Including Batnipples and Macguire hip swinging on the street. I wanted to like this movie, and was on the HELL YEAH bench when they announced it, but every decision since has been a bad one.
Assault on Arkham was much better, in story, common sense, building the team, relationships etc etc.
Turns out, 6 weeks for developing a script equals crap. Huh, who knew?
Don't confuse my criticism with nerdy crying over difference from the source material. It's not that. I welcome a different take on some matters. But taking a different take/approach solely for distancing oneself from the past takes is stupid. There has to be an idea as to why you're doing it, which this movie lacks.
The movie was needlessly rushed, with characters that don't have to be there forcefully crammed into it (Joker, for one, i could live without. Add Flash, Brother). The basic concept is (or IMO should be) that SS is there bcs they need to handle things the government or ARGUS cannot be associated with (i can't remember a Marvel equivalent off the top of my head, but X Force comes to mind, with me knowing they are actually good guys). That's it. Not metahuman fighting. Not covert ops for righteous reasons (as in this case). As Flag said, there's nothing they can do that a Spec ops team led by Flag couldn't handle. Also, they don't know their specific roles. I didn't expect them to be all extremely coordinated but one single training session or general "You do this, and your team member compliments you in that" talk would make more sense than just letting them off the chain.
Yeah, it's a superhero movie, and one shouldn't look for logic and common sense in them, but having a baseball bat and sharpened boomerangs against those two baddies was beyond ridiculous.
With those psychos, i don't see how they found reasons not to go with R rating.
The reshoots for added humor are possibly one additional reason why the movie is all over the place.
I liked the music but it seems as if it's random, and generally doesn't fit with the stuff actually going on. When Diablo started his sob story, you could almost hear "Cue emotional music". Also, as others said, GotG wannabe, but failing in the end.
Joker was a massive letdown, the only thing i did like about this version is the laugh. Tats, mannerism, it just all screams over the top. Yeah, i do like that he was not afraid to do a different take, but it just doesn't work. Some of his scenes are there just for the sake of it, such as the Common scene. It provides nothing in added value for the movie. I just didn't understand the point of having him in the movie. Arguably, Slipknot has a role. He demonstrates the bomb in the neck thing and the fact that Flags and Waller are not making just empty threats. Joker, not so much. If they did him as the main villain, sure. In this way, not so much. Not every Batman associated movie needs to be about Joker. When he was first showed, i was just on the verge of sobbing. I just couldn't even begin to compare that with this revelation of the iconic character:
I'm not gonna go through everyone, but acting part seemed like utmost crap.
Margot is a one trick pony. Did you get that she was crazy? Cause if you didn't, she'll tell you five additional times. We get it, move on, develop the freakin character, which fits you so damn well. Argggghhh. She looks great, but her acting chops need serious work.
Joel Kinnaman was also all over the place. Cara Delavigne looked like crap. Killer Croc looked retarded. Courtney was also overacting.
Smith is Smith. As most of us imagined. He should've been in the mask everytime he's in his suit. End of story, no face time. If Ryan Reynolds can hide behind the mask, so can you, you egoistical maniac. That said, his acting, when not overshadowed by his real life image, is solid.
Waller is also OK, though i didn't understand motives for some actions.
The dialogue and exchanges are uninspired, cliche, not always connected and generally appalling.
The humor is just not there. It's mostly a 13 year old take on Harley being a babe, the guy that can manipulate fire and that Killer Croc looks like...well...Killer Croc.
I'm sorry for the block of text, i'm just so utterly dissapointed, i needed to get if off my chest.

David Ayer Details Alternate Cuts for SUICIDE SQUAD, Explains Joker’s “Damaged” Tattoo
David Ayer: “This is sort of my personal thing and maybe less about a larger connection. But Joker killed Robin and Batman basically smashes his teeth out and locks him up in Arkham Asylum. It’s in the asylum where Joker would have done the ‘damaged’ tattoo as a message to Batman saying, ‘You’ve damaged me. I was so beautiful before and now you’ve destroyed my face.’ That’s where the grill comes from.”
“You could easily make this R-rated by having two F-bombs or someone smoke a cigarette. But that’s not what I think people mean when they ask for an R-rated version, so it was always meant to be a PG-13. It’s a decision you make before you turn the cameras on.”
Such a cop out. Obviously a schict for "mom, it's not a phase" comments on the Joker appearance. Also, it's not making any sense in the timeline, as others noted. It would make more sense if this was the Red hood/Death in the family thing. Real, older Joker kills Robin. He comes back, mentally deranged or "damaged" if you will. Becomes Joker. Yeah, everyone confirmed it's not gonna happen, but it would be so sweet.
The R rating comment also doesn't make any sense. Of course the point of the R rating in this movie is not for someone to smoke. You were not allowed the rating, be the man and (to quote Harley) "Own that shit!"
