Evans is a humble guy and good fighter too. Props to him although he is no longer in his prime, I wish he makes another title run.

Keith Jardine used to do it too lol

this would be the last thing I'd do on an internationally televised event, but that's just me

Towards the end of some fighters career I tend to appreciate them a lot more. Rashad is one of these guys. He has done a lot in the sport and grew from a young arrogant fighter to a real gentlemen of the sport. He was just plagued with injuries over the last few years and never got to show what he had to bring.

I always appreciated Rashad as being a true professional, always showed up ready to fight win or lose, he's also has a very long run of fighting guys at the highest level (Top 10 LHW's) for nearly a decade. The only knock I have on Rashad would be his long layoffs, but the mans gotta stay healthy, and also the nipple twerking thing, I thought that was bizarre.

It was Jackson's thing haha

GSP did it too, pretty much every fighter at Jackson's did it.

It was a mental thing, if I recall correctly I believe their theory behind that was that if they tweaked their nips before their fight they pretty much are embarrassing themselves, so if they embarrassed themselves already before the fight they won't worry about embarrassing themselves in their fights.

I get what you mean and you've mentioned that before about appreciating fighters as they get older. Rashad was definitely a gentleman of the sport

<mma4>

That seems reasonable lol

Rashad is awesome and had a great career. After losing to Jones, he wasnt the same imo. It's very clear he's lost the fire and retirement is nearing, I just hope he wrecks Kennedy and then retire on a great win.

:D They might have been on to something, when you guys see me in the future tweaking my nips before a fight you know why.
Could be a good strategy for up and coming fighters lol

Interesting note, thanks for edumacating me, honestly never heard that before.

Definitely hespect Hashad. He's a great fighter and has had a great career.

He also gave us the gift of 2 extremely brutal KO's.

I hespect the fact that he stood up to douchy bully Quinton Jackson and beat his ass in the fight.

couldn't agree more bro

War Hashade

I've always been kinda neutral on Rashad, and a bit bitter over his KO of chuck, but I have a lot if respect for his career and started rooting for him after the way he was treated at Jackson's over the Jon Jones situation.

He's had a great career. I think the move down to MW might be a little too late for him, hopefully he proves me wrong.

One thing I will miss from Evans as well are his dope intro tracks.

One of the most beautiful transitions into a double leg takedown in MMA history

When Rashad Evans showed up for the tryouts of TUF season 2 Dana White blatantly told him he was too small and that he would get beaten easily by every other heavyweight on the show.

Despite being the smallest heavyweight on the show Evans managed to make it to the finale of the show where he defeated the much bigger Brad Imes to become TUF 2 champ.

Rashad Evans managed to go on to have one of the most successful Light Heavyweights in UFC history.

UFC-94-151.jpg

With notable wins over Chuck Liddell, Forrest Griffin, Michael Bisping, Tito Ortiz, Rampage, Hendo, Jason Lambert and Phil Davis; Evans has wins over a Current/former UFC, Pride, Strikeforce, WEC, and Bellator champ.

Every fighter's time comes to an end at some point, unfortunately as of late Evans looks like he's approaching the end. Regardless of what happens on Saturday night, this could very well be the last time we see this future UFC Hall of Famer compete inside the octagon.

Love him or hate him, you have to respect him.

WAR HASHAD
Even though he ko'd my dad Liddell it's too hard to not like Rashad. Don't count him out just yet

Sure respect for Rashad for his overall career. However i hope he knows what he's doing, still fighting. Especially his last fight was hard to watch. Still after career like that he he can retire whenever he feels like it.

He was also a good coach on TUF. He killed Rampage in the opening round winning 7 out of 8 fights.

Most of the guys Rashad coached went on to have relatively successful mma careers, most notably Big Country, Schaub, Mitroine, Madsen...

Hell, Shad was a better coach towards Rampage's guys than Rampage himself was. lol.

Not to mention, he was Jones' mentor and "big brother". He also saw through Jon into his true character, and correctly predicted Jon's downfall years ago. He tried to set Jon straight but Jones gonna Jones- he was stubborn and didn't listen.

Entertaining in the cage, and just as smart outside of it. Unfortunate that the final chapter in his career was plagued with injuries. Really looking forward to his fight with Kennedy though. Been a fan from the start, and will be a fan after he eventually retires.

that being said...
