Ronda's strategy in all her fights:
Use her striking to get inside then when she gets the clinch... GG.
Khabibs Strategy in all her fights:
Use his striking to get inside then when he gets the clinch... GG
What they do after they get the clinch is very very different, but its the same outcome... a Win.
Holms strategy in all her fights:
Use her footwork to maintain distance, use her straight punches to keep opponent outside.
Conors strategy in all his fights:
use his footwork to maintain distance, use his boxing to keep opponent at distance.
Khabib has very short reach. Maybe less then Alvarez. The stat says Khabib has a 70 inch reach but I think its actually less then that. I can visually see it. If he wants to land any punches he has to explode forward, which he's good at doing but... Ask Aldo what happens when you explode forward against Conor.
Khabib doesnt really shoot for his takedowns, same as Rousey. They need the clinch. They pressure with forward movement, toughness, high guard, until the other fighter is near cage where he clinches, and from there he does whatever he wants. What happened to Rousey when she fought strikers that can throw crisp straights finding openings through the guard? Conor is the best ever in MMA at this. Also from a distance, he doesn't have the shooting ability of a GSP. Khabib is likely going to have trouble closing the distance just like Holly.
I think Conor realizes he has a good style to beat Khabib. He wants Khabib to beat Tony. Tony is a hard fight for Conor, he's basically a more well rounded version of Nate, but Nate has a little bit better boxing. Tony would outlast Conor and finish him in the later rounds. Conor is smart. He's faced reality and realized after losing to Nate and Mayweather that he wont last in the later rounds if the opponent can push the pace which Tony definitely can.
