Ronda had no footwork, striking defense, ineffective aggression, and searched for a finish on the feet. She was just a Judoka

Khabib that is not. Khabib has Sambo, wrestling, and judo in his bag a of tricks and has been shown to have strong striking defense.

Plus, the forward pressure he employed against Edson was specifically for him. Compare that to his fight against Johnson and you'll see the difference in game plan against a more skilled boxer.

Can see the similarities but the disparity in striking ability is far less than Ronda v Holly.

Randy can compete with Chuck on the feet.
Andersons boxing is overrated and chael's underrated... which is why he was able to drop silva.

Conor is on a completely different level on the feet than Khabib and is an expert at maintaining distance.

I agree. Khabibs striking is way better than Rondas. But Conors Striking is way better than Hollys.

Can he avoid the clinch is the real question, cause if he were to end up in said position as much as he did in the Diaz fight - he'd be in real trouble.

They super won't tho.

Khabib doesn't charge at people in most fights. He did it to Edson because that was the right gameplan to beat him. In the MJ fight Khabib barely threw anything on the feet. He just marched forward, pressured him, and waited for an opening to pin him to the cage or shoot in.

Ronda went in thinking that she could KO Holm if he she wanted. She was aggressive on the feet and made to attempt to grapple until she was extremely hurt.

That has never been Khabib's M.O.

The only similarity between this fight and that fight is that it's a striker vs a grappler.

General gameplan for Conor: Stay on the outside and strike

how is that not the same as Ronda vs Holly?

In terms of specifics, I agree with you. Khabib has good defensive footwork if he chooses to use it, and thats something that Ronda doesn't have. I personally think that Khabib needs to be able to slip a punch to get inside and not rely on striking with Conor to get inside or else he'll get eddie'd. If he relies to much on just his high guard to block punches, Conor is gonna find an opening. My actual prediction is Khabib will slip a punch and get the clinch and that will be the beginning of the end or it'll be Ronda vs Holly all over again.
 
It could be if Khabib decides to forget his wrestling and only strike with Conor. I don't see that happening.
 
please never put conor and khabib in the same sentence as holm and Honda

I get what you're saying and I appreciate the analysis but you're very wrong about the game plan for the Holly vs Ronda fight.

Ronda's plan was not to get in close and clinch ASAP. She was angry. She wanted to hurt Holly. She wanted to school her on the feet. She rushed forward and swung wildly opening her up for counters. And this was what she did until she got desperate and started searching for the clinch. In other fights she has rushed for the clinch but she has always had a tendency to brawl.

Khabib is generally much more composed and slower paced which makes a HUGE difference against counter strikers. Eddie and Aldo tend to lunge forward into their big shots and combos to flash KD their opponents and take them off their game. Khabib only rushes forward when his opponents are on the retreat and defensive. And when he does come forward he covers distance with strikes that are art to counter or not meant to land (that flying knee for example). When opponents stand their ground, like MJ, he is much more patient and actively removes opportunities for counters.

Anything can happen in a fight. Either can win. However, the chances of Khabib looking to strike with Conor are slim. That is why I say the comparison is lackluster.

Conor is an aggressive stalking striker. Holm is a back peddling points striker. Ronda uses judo to go for throws and submissions. Khabib uses wrestling takedowns to ground and pound. Four very different fighters put the simplest way I could
 
Not the best comparison but not the worst either. The fight really comes down to who does what they do the best, period. Conor could ko Khabib in 10 seconds, but then again Khabib could avoid getting hit and grab ahold of Conor, at which point Conor is fucked.

This fight will not be close. It will be a landslide one way or the other. The disparity in skill leans heavily toward Conor while standing up. It also leans heavily toward Khabib if the fight hits the mat. It's such a throwback fight...striker vs wrestler...someone will lose badly and violently.
 
Khabib is the reason McGregor is asking for ridiculous demands to come back to the cage.

If he's going to lose he wants another mega pay day.

McGregor is praying top every god ever invented that Ferguson beats Khabib.
