I think men should get paid like $20K to get sterilized; if you don't want kids or can't afford to have them then you shouldn't have them. If you have a change of heart down the road there's always a sizable orphan population that would love to be part of a loving home.

Yep. The problem with modern civilization is that it's eliminated natural selection and humanity is going to be worse off because of this.

the premise being, hey maybe we should spend sometime sending home the fact that having children and being a parent is an enormous responsibility? That by raising a shit kid you will not only be doing the child a disservice but society as a whole?

Ideally, someone would develop vasectomies that could be reversed at any time. It might make sense to pay young men to get them. At the very least, I suspect it would be covered by health insurance, since delivering babies is so expensive.
