after strongman comp.
West virginia's strongest mountaineer,
first event farmers pick and hold, 280# per hand who can hold it the longest,
I knew I would win this as I usually win the stubborn events. I went last and won by a second, the most pain my hands have ever been in.
second event humvee arm over arm rope pull, grip was soooo fucked but I pushed through it, I had some sort of technique issue with pulling slack out of the rope that I am starting to realize after watching the video, with the slowest pull I got last.
Axle clean and press away, 225x6 enough to tie for second, I should have got one more but at this point I was feeling horribly sick and I wasn't in the right mindset, I was in the mindset of I'm sick this sucks. I threw up immediately after the event. The winner got 225x11.
then 200# sandbag carry 60ft. run back 230# keg 60ft. then push a big ass truck 60ft. all in a minute. I had by far the fastest split times between the sandbag and keg but my shoes could not grip the floor for the truck push. On numerous occasions I did a road runner and ran in the same place going no where (was done inside of a national guard armory) got 2nd to last on this one, not to upset because it wasn't for a strength issue or anything it was a not wearing the proper footwear issue.
atlas stone over bar 270# over 48" the record was 10 in a minute, and going last and knowing the scoring there was no way to work out of my 3rd place spot so all I needed was 4 stones to get it. I crushed the first two lifts, both within 6 seconds, the second was wear by tape ripped off my arm including all the tacky, so I slowed down getting the next two in 16 seconds. for 4 reps in 22 seconds. At this point I was as high a place as I could go with severe wrist pain (that has been on and off for months) I called it quits.
overall fun event, met phil pfister, probably one of my last contests, weightlifting is starting to be a goal in and of itself where as it should be a means to an end.
