Stronger Division? Welterweight or Lightweight debate.

Neither Lentz or Olivera were near the top 20 though. LW has been falling for a while.

You think the fact that Lentz can go on a 6 fight win-streak in the LW div and still not be "top 20" in the division proved that LW division is shallow?!!!

.... ...baaaaaahahhahahahaahaa

LW is not a strong division whatsoever. Until GIl, AOki, ALveraz and CHandler come over, its the 2nd weakest after MW. (not counting the lower weight classes, they are terrible). WHen a guy thats 16-7 is maybe the 2nd best fighter int he division, you know its weak. And yes I know hes improved some, but dont give me this shit that a 13-7 fighter has improved that much because hes won 3 fights, only one against a top 10 fighter.

Its full of TUF rejects. Bendo hasnt even fought anyone new and his first new challenger is a guy is 16-7, on a 3 fight win streak with one top 10 win, 0 top 5 wins. And after that, its already pretty dried up. Maynard has been top 5ish for the last few years and he has 2 finishes his entire career, and has like 1 win in 2 years.
You blew your cover with the mention of Aoki. You're out.

Lightweight. EASILY.

Aoki has been exposed for what he is, borderline top 20. Stop being obtuse.
Chandler,Alvarez and Gilbert need an avenue to prove their worth. I would take Chandler over the lot.

The fact that a guy not even in top 10 ww grapple fucked a guy who is arguably number 2-3 LW nate diaz just proves that LW is not even close to ww people who say lw is stupid

LW, but i think WW has caught up and its closer than a lot of people are saying.

Edgar and BJ, possibly the two best LWs, are somewhere else.

Edgar lost two straight at LW and BJ lost 1 fight to Edgar. Good try on the Edgar schtick though.

The same Aoki who a lot of people consider to have the best resume at all time at LW? The same Aoki whos like 23-3 in the last few years at LW with more top 10 wins than any other LW? The same AOki that fights like 5 times a year isntead of 1-2??

That Aoki?

That Aoki that couldn't win a fight against any current top ten if his spandex longies life depended on it; that Aoki.

You know how many HWs, LHWs, MWs, and WWs are on a 6 fight win streak right now???

Pretty common thing when theyre a bunch of no names

How many HW are on a 6 fight win streak in their current UFC division?

I was just thinking about this today, honestly I love LW and I've always said just mathematically, it should be the deepest weight class since the highest number of men are the proper size for LW compared to any other class.

But the answer, as of now, is WW and it's actually not that close.

I don't think I'm even alone in thinking the best LW on earth might be the FW champ...

LW, cause GSP is just way above anyone in the top 10 WW

Edgar lost two straight at LW and BJ lost 1 fight to Edgar. Good try on the Edgar schtick though.

Yes they did, everyone has losses on their record. But they also have a lot of quality wins there. Edgar would still be top 3 at LW.

WW narrowly, LW's got a bunch of top guys but the championship may just bounce around, not that many new names coming in the LW division either

WW quite comfortably. Especially considering the additions such as Maia and Marquardt and the fact that LW lost it's arguably best current fighter as well as best all time fighter.

But most of all you look at the top of the tree. GSP is p4p waaayy better than Bendo. He doesnt leave title fights in any doubt who won.

And you look at the next group the likes of Condit, Diaz, Hendricks, Fitch etc. I think all these guys are better p4p than Bendo let alone some of the other top LWs.

I would say Lightweight when WEC had begun to merge. THe LW divison was STACKED and shining with so many bright guys back then. Miller, Cerrone, Pettis, Edgar, Maynard, Benson, Oliveira, G Sot, Barboza. So many guys. It was insane.

I think right now WW is the most stacked just because of how hard it is for WW's to get the title shot. Story, Maia, Hendricks, Condit, Rory, Kim, Jake Ellenberger, Kampmann, Diaz, Fitch, Koscheck, Hathaway, Ebersole, Akiyama, Erick Silva, Hyun Gyu Lim, Alves. Lots of good guys. And obviously the welterweight king GSP.

LW is deep all around (RDA, Manyard, Cerrone, Lauzon, etc.), while the top guys at WW are the toughest (Maia, GSP, Condit, etc.)

I think it's WW by virtue of better talent at the top.

GSP, Fitch and Diaz are all IMO better p4p than any LW, and the talent levels from 2-10 in LW and 4-10 in WW are pretty comparable.
