UFC financially exploits its fighters, causing good fighters to leave and disincentivizing good fighters to join, resulting in a league of decreased quality where fighters are also reluctant to fight because a loss might cause them an inordinate amount of their livelihood. This is all done in the larger context of ridiculously short-sighted decisions that harm the sport and the UFC's growth so they can goose immediate profits.

It would probably be much easier to schedule his fights as a champion.

Now he's been on ice since October due to the Strickland rematch and then of course Dricus needing adequate time to prepare before his next defense.

By all accounts, he was healthy from October until now (if this rumor is even true).

We also have the precedent of champs (except Jon Jones) now giving up their title if injured long term, and then getting a titleshot once they are healthy again.

Let's wait and see, there were very strong rumors about Dricus breaking a leg just a few months ago as well that turned out to be false.

Honestly, I'd believe it. Khamzat is so scared of losing that he overtrains and cuts so much weight. Just look at the videos of him training with Sadulaev. You can see that Sad is just training, going 50%, while Khamzat is going all out in a lot of these clips.

Going too hard all the time in training is how you get injured.
