Strikeforce nostalgia

Jeez you know it's old AF when Dana is actually willing to speak to Ariel.

Not technically a Strikeforce promo, but this is probably my favorite MMA promo video ever. With Kawajiri, Aoki and Takaya going to fight over Strikeforce shortly after the Fukushima Earthquake

Going way back....

When Kickboxing was "the sport of the future"

Nice!

It built itself up into a strong no2 org for the sport, then ironically within like 2 years of that the UFC just buys it.....

In the long run it was pretty damn influential. Lots of big names came from there, the whole WMMA thing was probably introduced into the UFC (for better or worse) because of the womens stuff in Strikeforce. That HW GP was absolute peak HW MMA too imo, granted it didnt pan out perfectly in terms of the brackets etc but the talent involved was fucking insane. And to think DC was an unknown quantity and considered one of the lesser names in it going in.

Cormier smashing everyone in the HW tournament as a backup is my favorite. Came out of nowhere. His smashing of Barnett was legendary.

Indelibly STRIKEFORCE:

Robbie Lawler vs Melvin Manhoef | Strikeforce, 2010

Maybe one of the best "comebacks" in STRIKEFORE history.

I agree with the quotes around comeback. The announcers were fooled, but Robbie was smart lifting his legs with those kicks. He was baiting Melvin without taking too much damage, and it worked perfectly.

The 3rd best MMA promotion ever. (UFC and Pride OFC take top 2)

I think maybe one of the most hype I've ever been during a fight is when Nick Diaz came back and stopped Paul Daley after getting dropped. Lots of people forget how good Nick was in his prime. 11 fight win streak against good competition during that run.

Of course that's just one of the many, many great fights Strikeforce put on, but for me the most memorable round possibly of my MMA experience. (I'm sure it's nostalgia, but still, don't deny me that.)

The Matchups that SHOULD HAVE Happened:

Fedor vs Velasquez
Michael Chandler vs Xkhabib
Shinya Aoki vs Xkhabib

Strikeforce was just as good as ufc at its peak. Too bad the UFC brand had such loyal followers that no matter what, people will deny any other org was just as good or better.

Pride to me was the top mma org for many years, but people want to forget it existed.

Yes but the situation with PRIDE wasnt about brand loyalty. UFC WAS the b-leagues when PRIDE was around. So when PRIDE was gone only shortly after the rise of the TUF GNUB.... They didnt want to care about something they didnt want to take the time to watch. They missed out,and just want to dismiss it the same way they dismiss K-1 and other japanese orgs. They dont want to hear about it or know about it,cos its easier that way.
