Strikeforce nostalgia

I want to see a Usyk vs. Fury fight bad as I'm now a fan of both. (Loved Fury since his comeback)

I just hope they make it happen.
Yeah I really do love both guys, but Im probably gonna root for Usyk. Which is nothing against Fury. I love both of them alot but for Usyk to overcome the size difference would be something spectacular

I spotted a strike force avatar for years on here.

That was MMAs greatest time for me. I wasn't into MMA for pride but when the UFC had really had competition it was so much better.

Ha. Yeah, the silly "he was a ufc guy first" misses the point. IDK why some people dwell on that when it's irrelevant.

And Robbie lost his WW Title to another fellow Strikeforce fighter, Woodley.
But, as much as anything, that 3-5 record has to do with Robbie fighting at MW+ while in Strikeforce

Dude, remember how huge of a deal Gilbert vs Shinya and Kawajiri II was? God damn I forgot all about those fights. Gil beat Masvidal and Thompson during that run too, albeit I thought Thompson won the rubbermatch. Gil was amazing, he and Eddie deserve so much more credit. What a title run.

SF did what the UFC is doing now with the Contender series. I remember Tarec and Mein being WWs I was super high on and being upset when Woodley laid on them both for 15 minutes. I also remember Woodley blasting Galvao and the fucking TRT WW Marquardt tekken comboing Tyron against the cage. St Preux vs Mousasi was a damn good fight that seems forgotten and Lorenz looked amazing in Strikeforce, I still feel like Lorenz coulda been a WW Champion in the UFC if a few things went differently he was so damn talented and a beautiful striker, remember back then on the UFC Forums back in 2009-2010 people were saying Lyoto vs Lorenz was their dream striking battle.
I ALWAYS say gilbert is the best LW to fight in the UFC and not win a title.

I always get nostalgic for Strikeforce when i see that awful Rockstar energy drink. It's funny because they probably intended it to be the other way around. The same way Lucky Strike makes me think of Pancrase instead of the other way around.

Strikeforce was better WW and up.
At the time though, 2010-11-ish, it was at HW and LW where Strikeforce had the most cachet, most cred.

Fedor Emelianenko was Consensus #1 HW of course, but Gilbert Melendez are the only other Champ that had an argument at the BEST in the WORLD at there division outside of the UFC.

Melendez was Ranked #1 over BJ Penn, Frankie Edgar, etc, by MMA Weekly Top 10 (iirc)

I wish we had a rival mma org that matched the ufc

Usyk or prime tyson

I have a deep nostalgia for Strikeforce and the WEC. I started watching MMA around 2005 and became a pretty avid fan around 2008, Rashad vs Machida was one of my first live PPVs but before that I watched the WEC on Sun Sports which later turned into the Versus channel, I watched Strikeforce on Showtime and whatever UFC cards I could find on Spike along with TUF. Oh and I watched Bellator tournaments on an ESPN Latino channel and K1 and MMA on HDNet (cant remember what Mma promotions they aired).

Strikeforce and the WEC kind of epitomized this era of MMA for me, I remember Yoel Romeros Strikeforce debut vs Feijao, I remember following Rockholds climb to the MW title, Brunson on the challenger series, Cung Le breaking Shamrocks arm and the Scott Smith fights, Thompson vs Melendez battles, Nick Diaz beating down Daley, Shamrock, Zaromskis and Cyborg, Masvidal vs KJ Noons was an awesome upset. Misaki vs Daley was an awesome upset. The HW tournament was insane, everything about it was just legendary. I remember thinking Adlan Amagov was the next big thing. Lawlers KO of Linland where he straightens his legs is still one if my all time favorites. Oh I was a huge Mousasi fanboy, I remember telling people that Jones wasn't the future of LHW, that it was Mousasi! Hahaha. Jacare was fucking amazing too, I wish he got the UFC earlier. Hendo vs Shields, Shields vs Mayhem...I remember the rear naked choke being set in as the bell sounded, fucking wow. The Brett Roger's hype after the Arlovski KO and Fedor vs Roger's was a huge fucking deal, I tried to go see that live in Chicago when I was 15.

Strikeforce holds a special place in my heart. That era of MMA was amazing, the convergence of WEC and Strikeforce, the inclusion of the lower weight divisions was the dawn of a new era for the UFC and I do miss that old era.

Death of Pride and into the rise of strikeforce. It was an awesome time!

We lost a great promotion when they got folded in. It gave us plenty of cross over fights absolutely. But yeah Strikeforce was a lot of fun, and a great UFC alternative.

Lawler placing Lindland's legs like a gentleman was so politely savage.

Ruthless bless.
