Strikeforce nostalgia

Yes, Strikeforce was a lot of fun. I have fond memories. At the time it was active, I had met some streaming friends via Sherdog, etc., and we would hang out on a pirate movie site and chat about MMA. We would watch them together and chat, before chat functions were a part of streams. Anyway, people would get pretty excited about the SF events, and myself as well, because there was so much action. Most of the lesser orgs had some fun action. I miss EliteXC also. Iconsports had some fun fights. It was definitely a fun period in MMA.

Strikeforce's talent development...

This what their minor league cards...
Strikeforce CHALLENGERS SERIES:

I cornered against Twood on a Challenger card before.

Mike Chandler too. This was before he could make 155 and use to fight WW and catch-weights of 165. That is by far the biggest physical freak “in person” I have ever seen inside the cage compete. A 165lb Mike Chandler in his early in mma days.

Met a ton of guys on these cards too. Anderson Silva, Babalu, Josh Barnett, Yves Edwards, Luigi Fiovoranti, Rafael Calvacante, Erik Apple, and many others.

One of my homies and training partners fought Tarec and was whooping the shit and almost finished him rnd 1 only to lose decision as Tarec recovered and found his groove scoring points.

I mean...

Bellator,Strikeforce and EliteXC might as well all have been the same company to me.

The talent pool in SF was undeniable, and for awhile housed the best HW's in the world, bar none

There's a reason why UFC worked to buy em out
Werdum
Cormier
Rockhold
Lawler
Rousey
all became UFC champions.

I have a deep nostalgia for Strikeforce and the WEC. I started watching MMA around 2005 and became a pretty avid fan around 2008, Rashad vs Machida was one of my first live PPVs but before that I watched the WEC on Sun Sports which later turned into the Versus channel, I watched Strikeforce on Showtime and whatever UFC cards I could find on Spike along with TUF. Oh and I watched Bellator tournaments on an ESPN Latino channel and K1 and MMA on HDNet (cant remember what Mma promotions they aired).

Strikeforce and the WEC kind of epitomized this era of MMA for me, I remember Yoel Romeros Strikeforce debut vs Feijao, I remember following Rockholds climb to the MW title, Brunson on the challenger series, Cung Le breaking Scott Smiths arm, Thompson vs Melendez battles, Nick Diaz beating down Daley, Shamrock, Zaromskis and Cyborg, Masvidal vs KJ Noons was an awesome upset. Misaki vs Daley was an awesome upset. The HW tournament was insane, everything about it was just legendary. I remember thinking Adlan Amagov was the next big thing. Lawlers KO of Linland where he straightens his legs is still one if my all time favorites. Oh I was a huge Mousasi fanboy, I remember telling people that Jones wasn't the future of LHW, that it was Mousasi! Hahaha. Jacare was fucking amazing too, I wish he got the UFC earlier. Hendo vs Shields, Shields vs Mayhem...I remember the rear naked choke being set in as the bell sounded, fucking wow. The Brett Roger's hype after the Arlovski KO and Fedor vs Roger's was a huge fucking deal, I tried to go see that live in Chicago when I was 15.

Strikeforce holds a special place in my heart. That era of MMA was amazing, the convergence of WEC and Strikeforce, the inclusion of the lower weight divisions was the dawn of a new era for the UFC and I do miss that old era.
OMG, you are my brother--same memories!
That Mayhem shields RNC; the HW Grand Prix: remember Cormier EASILY ripping through everyone? Oh yea, my wife and I were watching Brett Rogers (the tire guy?) vs Fedor and going nuts. Fedor hit him so hard...
Bellator is just not Strikeforce.
Strikeforce had UFC fighters still in their prime (or almost).
I wish the UFC had never bought Strikeforce. It was another show to watch. I usually skip Bellator.

Similar story for me. Being a kid watching WEC reruns is the reason Condit was my first favorite fighter.
