Quick update... I've been so busy with the JauntyPoints launch, that I completed neglected to mention that I've been feeling really beaten up for the last couple of weeks. I was planning to wait until I got home before deloading, but I guess I am going to do it this week. I'll probably lift what I was planning to lift, but 60-70% of the planned weight.

just in here browsing.....checking out the workouts.....i am in no way just trying to get the owner of this fine log to remember my name so it will be considered for some random award.....or "points" if you will, if something like that exists

Good, because that kind of blatant points-grubbing will never get you a JauntyPoint! :D

But I do remember you- you're the guy who started lifting with nearly a 1,000lb total. Which means that you won't get a JauntyPoint when you hit 1,000. For you, I might make it 1,400. (Mwahaahahahahahaha.)

The "Will de-loading make me stop feeling like I am permanently strung out on speed and have been hit by a bus?" Experiment

As the title of this log hints, I have been feeling pretty bad for the last few weeks. Really tired and beat up, but also not able to sleep that well, and not feeling recovered when I do sleep. I thought it was just Afghanistan, but then I thought 7 weeks of lifting without missing a single workout, and doing Smolov Jr for bench in that time, is probably enough to run yourself down. So I decided to de-load.

The plan was just 3x5 of everything at about 60% of my 1RM. I'll do the same workout on Friday, probably 65-70% of my 1RM.

Since it is barely worth logging... here's a quicky:

Warmup- c2 rower, 2 minutes
Squat- warmup and them 3x5@70kg
Bench- warmup and then 3x5@55kg
BOR- warmup and then 3x5@50kg

NNNNNNOOOO!!!!!

haha it was only 885, not 1000. Isnt it a little cruel to sever a mans dream from him just because he doesnt have to work as hard for 1000? im just doing my best to channel my inner chia and STTD.

and 1400? yikes, raw elite total for my weight is 1471 so looks like im going to buy myself the sweetest suit and wraps out there, maybe tony stark has a spare one.......

A lot of systems wouldn't give you recognition if you used cybernetic implants, an artificial heart and power armour in order to hit your total. But with JauntyPoints, you would actually get *more* points for doing it that way. Because one of our criteria is awesomeness, and let's face it, that would be pretty cool.

But don't despair... there are other ways of getting JauntyPoints. And who knows- if you started at 850, maybe an elite total isn't out of reach.

sweet, ill go ahead and give him a call later, jauntypoint is mine!

but really, i always had in the back of my mind that a 500 dl, 400 squat, and 300 bench would be cool. those numbers seem crazy to me and its only 1200.....1471 just looks absolutly nuts. Just kinda wish i had gone to the gym sooner then 3 months before my 27th birthday......such a lazy ass...

Much as I love the JauntyLog tradition of eye-candy, I'm afraid that I am forced to consider it no longer safe for work.

Fortunately, I have this handy little smartphone that is in no way associated with my employers network, so by all means, continue as usual. I will simply be enjoying log content on a much smaller screen. :)

Yeah... it's not Safe For Work for me, either. That's why you won't see me logged on between 8am and 5.30pm on work days here... but Eye Candy will go on, during evenings, mornings and weekends! It is my quest!

That's not how you get JauntyPoints!

*Moves Dexbot and MMAJester ahead of Slave on the JauntyPoints waiting list*

ill take it, probably the only thing i will ever ever be in front of slave at, cause i know damn well i cant compete with his lifting. Somehow the pain of that suddenly faded away with my movement up the JP list

Funny - you must be about 12 hours ahead of me, because I'm usually on during the day & it seems like you're always on here...what time zone are you in at the moment?

Seems like a good plan for a deload week. I deload every month or 2 and I highly recommend it. I always come back the following week recharged & ready to hit the gym.

We're GMT + 4.5 I think, which makes us 11-12 hours ahead of East Coast Time, I think.

Right now I get plenty of time in the morning and evening before and after work, a lot of which I am on here. Before I started this project I was working from my guest house, so I was on pretty much all day. Work a bit, post a bit, work a bit, post a bit.

Less chit chat and more either working out or discussions about working out.

(yes I know your deloading so now is a good time to adjust your goals and reflect on your training up to this point or at least post some intresting places pics)

The other day I found some pics of my office after the January 17th attacks last year. This was when the Taliban simultaneously attacked the Ministry of Finance (where I was), the Central Bank (Afghanistan's equivalent of the Federal Reserve) several other Ministries and the posh Serena Hotel, along with a local cinema and a big shopping mall (which they used as vantage points to attack these other places).

My office looked down onto the cinema they were in, so after the explosions and shooting started, we were moved into a safer location, and 3-4 policemen with Kalishnikovs came into our office to use it to shoot at the Taliban in the cinema.

Anyway, when I got back to my office the next day this is what it looked like

Just a normal messy office. But on closer inspection, there were bullet cartridges everywhere:

And yes, they ate all our food. Can't blame them for that. They also left us a message on one of our white-boards (left-hand corner):

WhiteboardofVictory.jpg

It says "Good job done on the battlefield today, Long Live the Afghan Police!" and was signed by the guy who wrote it. We kept the board like that for the next 6 months or so, but then it got lost in a move to a new office.

There were about 30-40 police in our Ministry that day, all saw fighting and one was killed. The others all received some type of promotion, apparently.
