Strength in Interesting Places

My work blocks video. Maybe I'll put a ticket into IT considering JauntyPoints are at stake. I think they'll understand.

Sensible man.

In several of my old workplaces, I used to give out vouchers for JauntyTime (although I used my real name, rather than 'Jaunty')- typically for 15 minutes or 30 minutes per voucher. I would make them nicely, too, using MS Publisher or some similar programme. As you can imagine, they were a huge motivation for all concerned and had a big impact on staff morale. :icon_chee

Nice! Congrats on your Deadlylift PR!

Great idea. So they could leave work for 15 or 30 minutes and do whatever they chose? Was there a ceiling on how much time you could accrue?

Not exactly. As I wasn't their employer, using the vouchers in that way would have gotten them in trouble. The vouchers could be redeemed in order to claim social time with me, e.g. over coffee or luch. This is why they were so very popular.

Congrats on the PR. Roman Polanski would be proud.

Great DL PR. Looked easy. You take a very wide stance. Is that intentional?

Thanks! Actually I usually go narrower, but I was trying to avoid a gap betwen two mats where my footing wouldn't have been quite level on one side. It might have been a tiny bit easier if I had used my normal stance.

Congrats congrats! I think you can lift more no prob. Let that back round out! (jk, a little)

Congrats on the PR. For the cultural reference, is it the Black Power fist after your PR?

Or maybe the fact that you have all of the colors of the Afghanistan flag present in your video?

Will pokemon related discussions still be allowed in this log?

you made that look like mickey mouse jr weight. congrats. same side grip, too. nice.

Thanks to everyone who posted! I really appreciate your encouragement and support. I'd say that the eight or nine posts show just how great the logs here are, and how much they can help and motivate you to move some heavy stuff.

Re: the cultural reference, DrBdan came closest, as there is a Roman Polanski movie called 'Death and the Maiden'. However, the actual reference was to a Schubert String Quartet called 'Death and the Maiden', which Schubert wrote after being sick and realizing he was dying. It's one of my favourite pieces of music. The music from the video is the beginning of the second movement.

I was also thinking of 'Bat Out of Hell', which would also have been appropriate as the narrator in the song actually dies at the end. Very appropriate for deathlifts.
