Street Fighter V v2: PS4 and PC ONLY

I've always been under the impression that SF has more balanced gameplay than the MK games. That's why it is more popular among the hardcore FGC. I've never been able to transition well to MK games with the exception of MK vs DC. I actually got up to 30th in the world at one point playing that.

@MUSTKILL, have you noticed two different play styles when we're in battle lounge? My best bud and I switch off playing you when he's in town. He's a lot more aggressive than I am and doesn't understand the concept of 'whiffing'. He also refuses to learn the simple concepts of his fighter. (ie: cr.mk > Hado, distance, ect). A lot more sporadic I guess.

I've been working in the lab setting CPU to random block to work on my hit confirms. It's helping so far, but I still have a ton I need to work on. Doing my Hado's, and Sho's to the left is giving me fits so I need to do those a 1,000 times each side. I'm also still having trouble doing my cr.HP in Sho consistently. It always ends up being a cr.HP > Hado and its aggravating.

Props to the guys spending time in training.

Who do you use again? For the most part, I don't notice. Hard to tell if its the same character, I figure you might be trying different tactics or something.

Nrs and mk is the king of casuals. Even when mk was straight ass during its 3d period, it still sold a shit ton of fans games. Now, mk is a much better competitive game (I refuse to get into a debate over which is objectively better, all fighters that are played competitively have merit, even God damned mother fucking smash) but even if mkx is an actual competitive fighter and belongs in evo. The player base and it's longevity pales compared to SF.

I'm typically Ryu, but have been working on my Ken. Just figured I'd ask because you have played us each a couple dozen times.

mk is a much better competitive game

You really think so? For casuals, right? If its not for balance, what makes the SF community so much bigger and competitive than the MK community? MK can have all the bells and whistles it wants, but the SF fighting community seems like they take it more serious. It's just what I've noticed and I've only been watching fighting games again since Ultra SFIV dropped.

I meant mkx is better compared to earlier mk games.

I really like sfv. Like really really really like it. I want to take it behind the bleachers and get it pregnant.

Ahhh gotcha. I remember reading about your disdain for SFIV with regards to the rabbit punching and 1-Frame combo links. I felt the same way and hated getting stuck in stupid frame traps. I feel like this games allows players to breath more. Except getting rushed down, then its tough.

SF2 set the fighting game standard when it released in February 1991. It wasn't perfect but it was the total package. MK released almost two years later in October 1992. MK wasn't a bad game but it's popularity was predicated on a gimmick. The gimmick, as popular as it was, doesn't outweigh crappy mechanics and thus MK's competitive scene just stuck with UMK3 and waned until the reboot. Where SF remained consistent for the most part. Even during the fall of arcades and the gap between SF3 and SF4. Now MK is as popular as it's ever been and for good reason. MK9 and 10, and to a lesser extent Injustice, are all great fighting games that have something to offer to the casual and hardcore player alike.

I think it will come down to ohflow and mustkill. I haven't played cyke_out before so I can't say. Of course, anything can happen. I'm hoping to make it through losers and get my runback with ohflow. I got demolished.

Yea I'm up against Cyke next and from the way he's talking I'm about to get my ass whooped. I still have some time to train but Fallout 4 has really been pulling me away from SFV lately. I wish I could say I'm going to hurry and finish it but we all know FO4 isn't the type of game you do that with.

Kick his ass, Seabass!

So I think I'm going to roll with zangief for awhile, might even give birdie a try. I'll keep vega in my back pocket since I'm having the mist success with him

Vega gives me fits when he starts jumping all over the place. Same with Fuerte.

I'm ass at this game. I have the reactions of a 40 year old man. And I barely get time to play. I just know a shit ton of fighting game theory since I grew up on fighting games.

Probably the best Ryu player I have seen so far. The timing with this guy is incredible and the way he uses the tools are fantastic. Kind of reminds me of my gameplay.

Sounds very similar to me then. Me and my cousin grew up playing fighting games.
