Street Fighter V v2: PS4 and PC ONLY

You should record Ryu in training to shoot a fireball at you and the practice your punishes after that. All about those hit confirms. Watching that video on training has opened up a whole new world of SF for me.

I know I'll be working to punish @Gref's Necalli stomp. It also helps you learn frame data and specific fighter punishes. Also have your attack data on. If it's hard to read the inputs, hit down a bunch of times before you start your combo. It goes from top to bottom. For example, I've had a hard time hitting tatsu off of st.lk but once I saw where I had to input the kick button my timing got way better. Learn to use the tools provided. Turn off fight request and practice.

Yeah I need to spend more time in training as well as playing online. Hoping to get rid of the rookie moniker this weekend...

How my mind works playing ranked

Ok, he blocked, I'm +3! Gonna set up some frames traps...... ouch, he just dp'ed me.

Ok, he blocked again, he is gonna dp again. Ok blocked it. Time for my punish!

Good now I taught him to just block. Finally I can start my pressure... What? He dp'ed againn?!?!

Fine, I'll just block and let him die from dp punishes... he threw me? He threw out of -3! Who does that? Is he a scrub or a genius on 3rd level yomi... maybe I'm the scrub...

Ok, he's Bison. I usually get wrecked by Bisons. I usually get wrecked by everyone. Fuck it, just scrap bruh.

Ok, he's letting me destroy myself. He's beating me to the punch but I'm not sure what attacks have frame advantage. Fuck it, time to throw every time.

Ok, the cat is out of the bag after the 2nd throw attempt. Word on the street is I'm a scrub. Fuck it, I'm going aggro on him.

Ok, I just lost 25 straight matches and the margin is getting wider. I want him subjected to out of competition testing and I'm going to slander him every chance I get.

But in all seriousness the way you describe the thought process playing this game is the difference between newbies like myself and experienced players. I'm not even close to analyzing it at that level. I have a very, very vague understanding of which attacks with Nash beat out others, but matches always seem to be won or lost in the trenches with who is getting their attack to land, and then following it up with max damage.

Fighting games are way deeper than I ever thought.

If you have an Android, download vFrames from the app store. It's a free sfv move list with frame data for urybody. It has helped me out a ton.

Yeah, it was pretty obvious you didn't know when it was your turn to attack. That just comes from knowing the frame data. It's worse for nash since he doesnt have any sort of meterless reversal, so he really has to respect frame traps. There were also times when you failed to punish me. So again your lack of frame data allowed me to just bull rush you.

Speaking of turns. Thanks for bringing it up @Cyke_out

Im sure some of you guys are thinking, "Turns? In a fighting game? WTF are you talking about."

Turns is just the best way to define when it's the right time to get active and press some buttons. Frame data can help you determine when it's your turn. Allowing you to attack through a bad block string or frame trap. Sometimes though it's better to be patient and wait it out before establishing your turn.

This is how I explained ... be like doctor who.

Doctor Who is all about controlling time and space.

Time is similar to ball control in football. The team that has possession the most usually wins. You get more time to be on the offence when you take more turns than your opponent. This is your frame traps, knock downs, and vortexes.

Space is staying in your optimal range and keeping your opponent out of thiers. This is your footsies, whiff punishing, zoning.

These two componets also work together. With the proper spacing, unsafe moves could be safe. So good space control gives you good time. A rush down character needs his space to be up close, and he stays that way by controlling his time and taking more turns. So good time control gives good space.

Every character controls each aspect differently and will most likely be better at one than the other. Understanding your characters tools to control time and space will make you a better player.

Reading all this makes me want to play.

btw... watched some top ranked players replays and all I can say is "Holy fuck Dhalsim!"

Also waiting to get word on this march update. I need challenge mode asap. Oh, and survival Hard is over my head.

Made it to super bronze today and was immediately demoted by a rushdown Sim. Gah Sim is such a beast in this game.

As far as I know Ono mentioned the March update but that was on Feb. 24th or something and Capcom hasn't said anything since.

Hopefully it comes out no later than mid March. Expecting Challenges, Trials, Alex, 8 Player Lobbies, etc.

I haven't touched ranked in a few days still sitting at bronze. I've spent most of my time playing sets with my friends or people from here.

I dropped far below Super Bronze after I took Ken into the lions den. I'm terrible with him, but I absolutely love his fast paced rush down attack style. It's a 100% change of style from Ryu's more methodical approach. I'm really going to hit the training room with him and Ryu pretty hard.

I love how they replaced Sagat with a dude who has a worm on his face and who's special move is to flap you to death like a bird. Fuck F.A.N.G. bring back SAGAT!

I've been fairly stuck in the 900 - 1100 LP range... currently only playing Rashid online, just learning on the fly with him since I still don't even have his basic combos down. Just using normals and specials to get by.

Ken / Ryu probably my strongest characters but I wanted to give one of the new characters some burn.

Thinking about getting this on Steam since Capcom said fuck you to Xbox. I heard the game was incomplete. Is that true?

The actual game play is freaking amazing. The online can be silky smooth. And the training mode is good.

If that is all you want in a fighter, then buy it. But if you want anything else, then wait for capcom to add story mode, and trails.

If you can win on normals alone then you are already having success where a lot of players never will. Knowing what normals are good and when to use them will win you a majority of games as opposed to some intricate combo or setup.
