Straight facts from SIR Johnny Walker

I am actually a massive fan and have trained at a gym with guys he came up with back in the day.

Still doesn't change the fact that he actively put his face down on the canvas and presented the back of his head before kneeling in front of his opponent. He then wondered why he copped an illegal knee when the only reason it was illegal wa because he had one knee in contact with the ground. He made no attempt to be offensive or even to actually defend himself there from anything. You could argue for a TKO if Yan had thrown a series of punches instead of the knee. Sterling wasn't intelligently defending himself. A DQ was the correct call though, but it's no different to Vitor throwing a headkick at Jones in their fight to start of with Jones grounded.
Are you criticizing him for taking advantage of retarded opponents?

Also this whole post is a big WTF

#1: "he actively put his face down on the canvas and presented the back of his head before kneeling in front of his opponent"

At no point does Sterling do what you just described. Yan has him in a headlock and forces Sterling down, then pushes his head down before throwing the illegal strike. What in the fuck were you watching?

2. "when the only reason it was illegal wa because he had one knee in contact with the ground"
Sterling is quite literally sitting on that leg, because Yan puts him in that position with the headlock and pressure. Also it doesn't matter why it was illegal lol

3. "He made no attempt to be offensive or even to actually defend himself there from anything"
Yan had him in a headlock leading to this position, which he was defending. Did you also want him to start winging strikes while doing so?

4. "You could argue for a TKO if Yan had thrown a series of punches instead of the knee"
You could argue my aunt would be my uncle if she had a penis too

5. "Sterling wasn't intelligently defending himself"
See #3

EDIT: here is the whole sequence so you can see how wrong you are

If MMA had a half point system every foul would be an automatic half point deduction. We would see more official wins in the eyes of the beholder this way.

Sterling/Yan is a bit different. Sterling continually put himself in that position intentionally and I personally believe it was a language barrier for Yan. Sterling also was clearly acting to draw the DQ win. He has been TKO'd and KO'd previously and not reacted anything at all like that. He isn;t the only Serra/Longo fighter to try and play the game for that DQ style win. Remember Weidman vs Gegard? It's something they are actively employing in their training when they get to those positions.

DQ win for both is fine and on the same card this weekend, the Mokaev fight should have been a NC due to Herzogs poor refereeing. It was stopped for an illegal strike that was legal and it wasn't even restarted in the same position. It's a great example of a NC due to issues around officiating.

yeah 100% serra-longo def train to get the DQ. in fact it is all they drill. LOL. yeah buddy.

Yes, every fight you get a free eyepoke and kick in the nuts because the refs will never take a point. It's ridiculous.

The refs have established a precedent that you are allowed a few eye pokes.and ball shots per fight, first stop warning, second stop probably still a warning.

Can you blame fighters for working within the established protocols?.

Yeah, I never understood why Jones always got away with a warning for raking people's eyes. Weren't they already warned in the dressing room, and reminded in the center of the octagon before headlining?

It should be an automatic point deduction if not DQ.

This.

No point not taking out the balls as early as you can. People don't just recover from shots like that either. They might look like it, but they're still dealing with that damage for the rest of the fight. Eye shots are no different.

That reminds me of the love child of guy fieri and Brock, Chris Tuscherer when he fought against manbearpig. Gonzaga nailed him square in the balls with the kick that Cro Cop'd Cor Cop.

Chris took the whole five minutes in the corner and even threw up. But he had that Andy Wang warrior spirit and went out to continue, only to get sent to the shadow realm by another kick

Not sure if Gonzaga did it on purpose, but that kick definitely had a huge impact on the outcome and there was no repercussion for the foul
Damn, I didn't know he threw up.

I've taken some hard nut shots but never vomited from it. Respect to Chris for agreeing to continue the fight.

It should be an automatic point deduction if not DQ.

Some of his opponents have tried to have the ref issue a warning in the locker rooms with hopes that the first eye poke would be a point deduction.

But as far as my memory goes I don't think Jon has ever been deducted a point for an eye poke.

He got a point taken for kneeing downed Anthony Smith in the face and it would appear Anthony Smith has either a lifetime or longterm paying position on UFC commentary as a thank you for not taking the DQ win.

Freshman year of HS lacrosse a senior got hit with a vicious stick check to the family jewels. I'm talking full power wrap check, titanium on beans. No cup.

Practice stopped for probably 10 minutes while this poor asshole heaved, puked, gasped, cried.

The trainer was there, he happened to be a former college lacrosse player of the "walk it off" generation. People were asking him what to do, he responded "don't get hit in the balls like that, what do you want me to do?"

The next day I am pretty sure everyone one that team wore a cup.

That incident became an immediate core memory. I will remember that on my deathbed, I will even probably remember the kids name. That shit got burned into my memory.
