I'm sick of this in the UFC; they's zero punishment for breaking the few rules that there are. On the contrary, you get rewarded, because you're never disqualified and we've seen numerous instances of fighters being pressured into continuing and getting their ass kicked. Diego Sanchez got booed out of the arena for taking a legitimate DQ win. It's a no lose situation for the cheat.

I'm fairly sure Walker was playing up the injury, & why shouldnt he. Its a joke that he should be expected to carry on like nothing happened.

Jones did similar (actually far worse) to Smith & it worked majorly to his advantage. he's always poking opponents in the eyes and never gets docked. That's why I'm GLAD Jones has that Hamill loss on his record, & cant believe I ever thought otherwise. Jones is lucky not to have about 4 losses, all things considered.
 
May as well foul if you aren't going to be punished. You're taking advantage of your opponent having integrity and not wanting to look weak by taking the DQ.

That was Smith's problem against Jones, he could easily have taken the DQ, but if he had idiot fans would never let him hear the end of it even though it was the opponent who actually did the bad thing in the fight. Similar to Sterling/Yan. People act like Yan was the wronged party even though he intentionally cheated.

The Jones one was so absurd that I genuinely think it might just have been one of his psychotic moments. It was so blatant but he was in complete control of the fight so it didnt make sense. It wasnt like some kneejerk reaction in a quick scramble.

I think he knew where was & was more lucid than he was letting on (or had any right to be, given the blow he'd taken) but just thought "fuck this guy". I suspected it at the time but I'm even more convinced now in light of these comments.

Sterling/Yan is a bit different. Sterling continually put himself in that position intentionally and I personally believe it was a language barrier for Yan. Sterling also was clearly acting to draw the DQ win. He has been TKO'd and KO'd previously and not reacted anything at all like that. He isn;t the only Serra/Longo fighter to try and play the game for that DQ style win. Remember Weidman vs Gegard? It's something they are actively employing in their training when they get to those positions.

DQ win for both is fine and on the same card this weekend, the Mokaev fight should have been a NC due to Herzogs poor refereeing. It was stopped for an illegal strike that was legal and it wasn't even restarted in the same position. It's a great example of a NC due to issues around officiating.
 
finally, he is thinking, considering it. i've always said you get one. you get one eye poke, one nut shot, one strike to a downed opponent, etc. if he was smart, anyone really, they'd do it in the first round, blast as hard as possible, let the guy get their five minutes, and then start the fight. the opponent should do it too. if the refs aren't ever going to take a point away when it happens the first time, then who gives a fuck? ya might as well now. it'd be stupid actually, not to.

That reminds me of the love child of guy fieri and Brock, Chris Tuscherer when he fought against manbearpig. Gonzaga nailed him square in the balls with the kick that Cro Cop'd Cor Cop.

Chris took the whole five minutes in the corner and even threw up. But he had that Andy Wang warrior spirit and went out to continue, only to get sent to the shadow realm by another kick

Not sure if Gonzaga did it on purpose, but that kick definitely had a huge impact on the outcome and there was no repercussion for the foul
 
Yes, I've often said fighters should poke an eye and take out a testicle because there's never any points taken away.

I'm surprised some of the more seedier fighters haven't already implemented it in the gameplan

I genuinely don't think he knew where Abu dhabi was due to being Brazilian and living in Ireland.
He said he was going to say UAE but didn't want to get it wrong.

It's not like it's a major continent they were fighting in like the US, Australia or Brazil.

Sterling putting himself in the position is irrelevant. Yan was in direct communication with his corner when it happened. He asked his corner whether to throw the knee or not. I believe one cornerman said yes and the other said no. The ref warned him Sterling was a downed opponent multiple times also, but yes. That might be a language barrier issue, but with his own corner there certainly wasn't one.

Not to mention that knee is not a one off or an isolated issue. Yan has a history of being a very dirty fighter. Dating back to before his UFC days even. The Sterling fight isn't even Yan's only loss due to an intentional foul, it's his 2nd.
 
Imagine if baseball allowed pitchers to intentionally plunk two batters before getting a warning, and that the next one will get you tossed. Or the NFL gives you two late hits on the QB before punishing the offending team. I enjoy watching this 'sport', but it has so much bullshit around it regarding scoring, reffing and title shots, that its hard to take it too seriously.

I've been saying this for years

Kick your opponent in the nuts good at least once. You'll just get a warning, and it will completely debilitate your opponent. You get a huge reward for very little risk

Sometimes you get more than one. Charles Johnston got in 4 or 5 eyepokes and 4 groin shots on Zhalgas Zhumagulov and wasn't even warned I believe. He went on to win a UD. Every time Zhumagulov started getting the slightest bit of momentum BAM!. Eye poke or kick to the dick.
