* Stipe refusing to fight until contract is re-negotiated !

he said he wants to fight less, so he'll get paid less too, sounds fair to everyone on the planet

When Stipe produces the profit like the other names than he should be asking for more money.

Overeem and Hunt are getting paid for paving the way!
I have been watching both for almost 20 years.
Simple as that.......Stipe has been on the scene a little more than 15 minutes....Yes he is the champ BUT, that doesn't mean he makes the most.
Why isn't Stipe barking about The Golden Child?

He signed the contract knowing what could happen so honor it and then move onto a new one that's better for him

Stipe is making good money. If you want to make 800k, be a star and draw some PPV.

It looks like Stipe is going to be another Aldo and DJ where they think just because they are champions, they should be the highest paid people on the roster. In a team sport where winning is all that matters, that might be the case. This is prize fighting and a PPV-based product. You make money based on how much you draw and how many buys you can bring on PPV. Stipe isn't drawing a dime outside of Cleveland.

I can respect him for looking out for his best interest.

After his contract shit is worked out Stipe should lobby for the Lesnar fight.

It's an easy win, a huge payday and would put his name in the mouths of every mma casual.

mods - please merge with the other thread of the same topic ! dammit.

"It definitely should change," Miocic said. "But the fact that [Overeem and JDS) made more money than me in my last fight was just kind of a slap in the face.

"[It's] terrible. Things definitely need to be changed. Something's gotta change. It's not really fair."

Miocic's typically quiet and workman-like demeanor hasn't done much for his brand as a marketer. He did, however, go public in June upon the announcement of the August pay-per-view boxing match between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor by pleading for a spot on the undercard against unbeaten boxing champion Anthony Joshua of England.

Look, I like Stipe but he's not a draw for whatever reason. JDS and Overeem are bigger names and that's why they made more. I don't like the idea of a fighter holding out until he gets money he isn't deserving of due to popularity reasons. Don't get me wrong, I understand where's he coming from, but people were watching to see Overeem and JDS more than him.
don't get me wrong, but he is above both, he should get paid more.
A champion should be worth more than a contender.

Honestly, Hunt and Reem are worth the extra $200K due to growing potential PPV markets.

Ugh. Come on, Stipe.

You're supposed to be the humble meat and potatoes guy.

Is everyone going to turn diva now.

The UFC is horrible at promoting fighters. Unless they can shit talk. The UFC is just useless.

Dude from Ohio, who happens to moonlight as a Paramedic/firefighter. And he's knocking out the biggest names in the sport, in the FIRST fuckin round. One win away from a UFC record.

If you can't sell that. You're not very good at your fuckin job.

Underrated post.

He didn't sign a contract? Once the contract expires he can ask for whatever he wants

Give the man his fucking money!

pleading for a spot on the undercard against unbeaten boxing champion Anthony Joshua of England.

haahhahahahahahhahahahahahahahahaha

this bullshit is so out of control. how does he bitch about money and fairness (regarding a contrast he willingly signed, no less) but THEN say something so hilariously outlandish.

600k, for a heavyweight champ on pace to break records. 4 straight first round finishes and the main loss has been avenged.

Basically feels a bit like you need to be the first big time fighter from your country in order to make any money.

Will be 35 by the next time he fights, so if he has a lot of fights left on the current contract (unsure?) then he is wise to sit out.
