Stipe never beat a good HW in their prime

The HW division died out in 2013. Being a top 5 HW in 2016 isnt as impressive as being top 5 before 2013. The top 5 HWs during Stipes era were mostly over the hill 40yr olds.
Since you said so, it must be true.

Hey guys, this guy’s subjective opinion on prime and when heavyweights were best is what his entire argument rests on! Sorry, but you can’t win!

What does it matter if those fights were inside or outside of Japan? Even still Fedor faced and beat 2 top 5 HWs outside of Japan.

Meh...says you

Plus, usada

Are you denying that guys in their late 30s and early 40s were past their primes?

Did you watch that fight? Randy shattered Gonzaga's nose with an accidental headbutt and the referee didn't notice. It was awesome but would have been a No Contest had the ref done his job.
what do you say to those who say headbutts as a result of slams/throws should be legal and that Gonzaga caused it to happen by holding the fence?

The landscape of the division changed. You make the argument that those guys were all in their 20s and early 30s in pride or early mma days. Now, there are still guys in their 20s at heavyweight but they can’t compete at the top.

Maybe…. Just maybe….. mid 30s are the best years for heavyweights in mma

When was the last relevant HW fight that took place in Japan?

December 2016, RIZIN Grand Prix.
Cro Cop left UFC ranked in Top 15 after beating Gonzaga, King Mo was ranked in Top 15 on wings of beating Kongo & Prochazka and winning Rizin HW Grand Prix 2015.

Nope, not one. Zip. Zero. Nada.

Roy Nelson - 37yrs old
Gabriel Gonzaga - 34yrs old
Mark Hunt - 41yrs old
Andrei Arlovski - 37yrs old
Fabricio Werdum - 39yrs old
Alistair Overeem - 36yrs old, non-Uber
Junior Dos Santos - post-Cain & Overeem
Francis Ngannou - Green
Daniel Cormier - 40yrs old
Daniel Cormier - 41yrs old

In fact the only prime HWs he faced...Francis, JDS, Struve...all beat him.

Stipe can never be the GOAT HW because he doesn't have a single legitimately great win. Not one.

Because of this Stipe firmly ranks behind Fedor, Big Nog, Cain, JDS, Couture, Werdum, and probably a few others.

You lost all credibility when you called a guy getting a title shot “green”. You can’t give Ngannou credit for beating Stipe and in the same breath not give Stipe the same credit. Also saying DC was not still in prime fighting condition just because of a number next to his name is laughable considering he held two belts at 40. Good effort otherwise though 4/10 on this post.

You didn't explain why it matters of fights took place in Japan

There hasntbeen a relevant GW fight in Jap

Its more about mileage than age so alot of guys can peak in their early to mid 30s. But once a fighter gets into their late 30s, 25-30 fights, and several kos there is no more queation about it. They are NOT in their primes.

As you can see on the video, no escape from the corner of the ring. It is not UFC octagon.

Oleynik subbed hm in a ring 3 years prior lol

CroCop-KingMo as a relevant HW fight in 2016 lmao

Stipe beating Shane Del Rosario in 2012 is an underrated win. They were both super hungry prime fighters at the time, and Shane was undefeated at 29 yrs old. If Shane hadn’t unfortunately died a year later he would’ve eventually became a HW contender too.

So then why weren’t any of the younger heavyweights with less mileage beating them?

Because they werent very good. The division died out in 2013.
There wasn’t a single point since the beginning of stipe’s reign where anybody in the world who was in their prime before 2013 would’ve been ufc heavyweight champion

Well thats ridiculous. Prime versions of JDS, Cain, Cormier, Fedor, Ubereem, Nog, Barnett, Couture would all be favorites over Stipe.
