Stipe might still get the belt back

People will always have negative stuff to say about Jones, but in regards to fighting, one of the only legitimate debates you could have is if he's the greatest or not.

I'm just curious what you think the other legitimate debates are. Anything about PEDs or fingers?

This is quite the revisionist history lol.
Stipe’s performance in the 2nd fight was horrendous. I understand going against Ngannou is scary, but Stipe looked like a corpse in that fight.

Wrong idiot.

Stipe looked good, but Francis had clearly prepared massively.

The result wasn't a factor of how bad Stipe looked, but how well Francis had prepared.

Stipe then came back, utterly destroyed DC, then beat him again the rubber match.

"Utterly destroyed" means 2 wars against a grandpa ? <36>

Here's a fact for you : Stipe got badly owned in the first fight in his own category by a fighter that should not be fighting anymore due to his advanced age.

And to advenge his first loss, he had to make 2 incredible wars against a retired fighter.

And don't speak about eye poke because the pictures about Stipe putting his fingers in Cormier's eyes are all over the Internet...

I don’t know why you’re getting angry lol.

It’s 2023, we have YouTube. In what way did Stipe look good here? Please, enlighten me.

Stipe looked like a good little man against a prime, massive man.

He would have done better, waiting for another round or two to put on the pressure.

He was a little too excited to get going.

NOTE: Jones doesn't carry the same threat as Ngannou ...

Stipe vs Jones at this point is actually a great fight. Stipe is older and coming off a layoff, Jones isn't exactly young and active either.

Dude's 40 years old and has only fought even older DC and got KO'd by Ngannou in the last 5 years. Good career, but it would be pretty bad for the HW division if a pretty inactive 40 year old had the belt.

Fine, but are you aware of Cormier's age during all of those fights ?

Are you aware of Stipe's? I know three years at that stage is as huge a difference for a small number as you can get outside of jailbait, but still Stipe was no spring chicken.

Stipe could beat Jones I think. Gane would be a nightmare. I doubt Jones will get past Gane.

Cejudo was Champ Champ with back to back wins over P4P ranked guys in TJ and Mighty Mouse and he'd won 4 consecutive title fights.

Stipe got smoked is 2-2 in his last 4, I don't think he should walk into another title shot after choosing to sit out for years.

Let him fight a hungry contender like Pavlovich or Aspinall.

I'm not saying Miocic should definitely fight for the title, but I don't think it's as unreasonable as you make out. His record eclipses those of other HW UFC champions.

In their first fight, Cormier had 39 years old and Miocic 35 years old.

35 years is, for instance, the current age of Jon Jones. Do you imagine him still fighting at 39 years old ?

I don't...

Technically speaking anyone CAN. But he won't I'm afraid

Stipe could challenge Jamahal if his muscles atrophy continues.

LHW Cormier was heavier than Stipe in his last fight.

I don't...

Jones started fighting MMA at a lot earlier age than either Stipe or Cormier. Even with the several significant, er, let's say sabbaticals in his career, Jones has already had more fights than either of them. Him at 39 would be a heckuva lot older in cage age than them at the same calendar milestone.

If he has really been training his wrestling the extra muscle could help him beat Gane if Jones loses. Aside from that it's only going to make him slower.

Indeed you're right but 39 years old is old, no matter the category.

Sadly, he looked useless against Ngannou, every punch that landed look like he questioned being there and each time he tried to take Ngannou down he effortlessly tossed him like a child. Those Cormier fights took a lot out of both of them.

"each" = once, in this case. One that looked to me more like an explorartory trial than a committed attempt, and persuaded him that he needed to weary out his opponent more before trying again. And the end ensued when Stipe threw a blow that did impact Ngannou enough that Stipe got overexcited, and thought he might end it if he pushed a momentary advantage.

Now I'm not saying Stipe looked good in the cage. And he himself described his efforts as generally too tentative, too hesitant, so you saying it looked like he questioned being there isn't too off the mark. But recall often pushes the narrative of an event further, sharpening its lines and contrasts, and your description of the fight sounds like that's happened with you.
