Still watching Spartacus on Netflix regularly...Appreciation/Wishful thinking thread

My wife just texted me and told me she was starting this on Netflix.

They really need to make spinoff or a show like Spartacus. Anyone have any recommendations to any shows? I like Banshee but it isn't as good as Spartacus story and character wise.

sorry didn't read through the thread, but is the show uncensored/uncut on netflix? would hate to rewatch it with scenes being cut out and what not.

Gannicus was hands down my fave.

Been a while since i've seen it, I may give it another watch. Season 1 was the shit.

I thought Gods of the Arena was the best season. Absolutely loved seeing how Crixus came to be at the ludus and watching him hone his skills as a gladiator. Him vs. Auctus is probably my favorite fight from the entire series. I'm a bit biased on that though because Crixus was my favorite character.

as was mine
I loved that brute

Just finished the first season. Shit was epic. Worth watching the rest even though the actor died?

Yes. Every season is fucking awesome. Andy Whitfield may have made them even better but props to the new Spartacus for carrying the show when nobody gave him a chance to do so. He wasn't as good as the original Spartacus but he grew on me as the show went on and then there's tons of other gret characters to make this show epic.

Still wishing that they had hired the actress that played Gabriel in Xena and had her make out with Lucy Lawless. :icon_chee

First season was 'ok', I did love Andy but it got shitter as time went on. Had potential...but can't even be mentioned in the same breath as a genuinely great show like Rome. Then again, they so different in style, there is probably not much point...

Surprised this show gets so much love. Filled to the brim with violence and nudity so of course I watched it but as a quality show it sucked.

I liked the first season. I was team Batiatus - loved that dude.

It's not quite top tier, but it was way better than it had any right to be. It started off worse than almost any show I can think of. Those first few episodes are laughable. They could've just coasted on it though, because the draw was the crazy violence and sex. They didn't though. They toned down the music video editing, and terribly forced melodrama, and got their shit together in short order. Especially with the writing. The show became addictive because of the writing, and the sex and violence became just window dressing to a damn good story.

The show was addictive to watch, which is what matters. Yeah, it doesn't stand up next to Rome or GOT in terms of overall quality, but it's still very well done, and the experience it offers is pretty unique. It's almost like watching a really well put together cheap exploitation flick.

That last sentence is exactly what I think of it as. A highly stylished exploitation flick in a tv show format. Have to disagree with you about the writing though, the sex and violence is what kept it addictive.
