Steve Garcia's terrible callout

I always hate when guys that barely have a name call out legends in the twilight of their career. And Garcia is a fun fighter that would probably have a cool action fight with Max before getting smoked.

But you haven’t earned the right to fight guys with huge names that are only taking money fights. Like know your place - it’s ok to aim high, but have some semblance of realism in your aspirations.

I'm tired of people acting like Josh Emmett is some legit contender and not just a guy that can hit hard.

Yeah, that callout was fifty shades of lame. That was probably the first tie Max had even heard of Steve Garcia.

There are a lot of recognizable names in the FW division, including former champions that aren't Max Holloway, who is a lightweight that is near a title shot.

I dont get how it "does more" for him than calling out Jean Silva, who is a topical, active fighter that is pushed by the UFC who could plausibly fight Garcia. What exactly did calling Max Holloway out do for him? If not for this thread I'd have no idea he even done that.
Garcia specifically called for the "BMF" Championship belt, which Max Holloway currently holds. If Max lost to Gaethje, then Garcia would've called out Justin instead.
If the UFC offered Garcia a fight with Max for the BMF title, then you should assume it will happen at Lightweight.

Well, if Max is the BMF champion and he called out the BMF champion, he called out Max. Whether it is Gaethje or Max Holloway the problem is the exact same.

Everyone on the roster should call out Max Holloway (or the BMF champion) then. They should have gave Onama an interview after, he could have called out Max too. This is even more cringe then when everyone was calling out McGregor.

I mean to be fair, Zalal probably has bigger names on the table than Garcia - he deserves a top 5 guy.

Guys we literally had people on here that did not know who either Garcia or Onama were, are you seriously shocked Steve decided to call out one of the more recognizable names in FW? Regardless of Max being done with the weight that call out does more for Garcia in terms of having his name out there than Jean Silva, Arnold Allen or someone near his ranking.

You guys overestimate how much the average UFC fan cares about remembering fighters who aren't fighting for titles.

Exactly. No one knows who he is, including Max. There's absolutely no way he's getting that fight. He would have gotten way more shine if he cut a WWE style promo and started chirping at Zalal.

"Hey! YouSuck Zalal! I heard you trying to coach your boy, acting like you got my timing all figured out! Why don't you get in here next and I can finish your whole team tonight!" What's that?! Too chicken? I'll see you at the Apex in December Boouuyyy!!!"

Mannn if they booked that fight and Garcia finishes Zalal, he's off the to the races.

But yea totally, I can see why you think an unrealistic Holloway callout was cool

That's fair. I don't think he'd actually get the Zalal fight, but he could then leverage that later on down the road and claim that Zalal ducked him or something.

Setting that aside, I get the feeling that Emmett or Pitbull are probably next for him.

Love the idea of a Pitbull fight.
